All that pearlescence and opalescence is so bridal! And I like the way the card picks up on the colour of the Y bars.

That large picture is a true test for patience. Well done, Serinde- you have done quite a lot. Cant wait to see it finished and in full splender.
I cant comment on your hardanger in technical terms, so will just mention that I do like it.

The tapestry is gorgeous and the repair is only noticeable because you highlighted it and there is nothing to notice. Does that make sense? It is perfect!
And I love your card. I have used opalescent fabric on several projects and love it. There is a subtle elegance which lends itself perfectly to your card.

thanks! I should say the decision about colours came from the wedding invitation -- thistles and heathery colours seemed appropriate.

Goodness me, the tapestry was well worth bringing into daylight again...a d Wei done for that in invisible repair.
Then the wedding card. Yes! Perfect for a Scottish Wedding.

Re: Serinde's 2020 Stitching Adventures 16 Nov
Here's a little thing I did as part of a Lockdown Project being done by my branch of the Embroiderers' Guild. Meant to give an indication how it was at the time. I thought a castle quite good, since I felt safe, and had my garden starting to emerge, too. Also, as I didn't feel terribly creative, I thought cross-stitch a good technique (at the time I remember not being able to face anything remotely complicated). It's all to go into a banner. And no, I didn't iron it before I took the pic (though it is now, but sent away). I used Carrie's Threads I had in stash, plus a bronze metallic DMC for the weather vane, and the design is a Nancy Spies (from Drolleries, I think).

I like your explanation of what it all stands for - and what an interesting project the gathered whole is going to be!

WOW what a wonderful project at such a difficult time. I love it.
Thank you for explaining your idea behind choosing to do that specific design, very apt.

What a wonderful representation of how it feels to be in lockdown, I can see why you choose to stitch it for the banner. You have stitched it beautifully.

Less is more I think and this simple but effective design really is a great example of your safe feeling.

Re: Serinde's 2020 Stitching Adventures 16 Nov
It's exactly how I felt, even if slightly snowed under with admin for various organisations at the start of lockdown in March. That's probably when I lost track of days and months.
I still am slightly flummoxed that we are 5 weeks off midwinter...!!
Surely, it's August?

Quite right, Mabel. Surely it's still August!

Re: Serinde's 2020 Stitching Adventures 16 Nov

I love your castle!!!!! I think it is a perfect representation of how it can feel in a lockdown (either that or a dungeon depending on the day).
No it is November. I am not going to relive all those months when life (at least here in the states) got crazier and crazier.

You've got a point there Carole. Perhaps we should pretend it's April already

No chance in these parts pretending it's April, Mabel. Too dark, just for starters (about the same amount of rain, tho).
No, I'm happy it's November: general election over (and it will end positively, Carole, tho it's still exciting in GA) and I have three birthdays and Thanksgiving before I can make my Christmas cake, followed by other festive-y things, and lights going on in the village and really, it's all good.

Serinde, I'm not sure exciting is the word I would use to describe it. But because I am a moderator and must set a good example I will refrain from using the expression that comes to mindSerinde wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 5:56 pm
