Not totally sure..but I assume it's going to turn into more of a civil case. They will probably go after her insurance company to pay for Chad's medical and they may go after her too. If the police had originally found her liable for the accident, she probably would have lost her current job as a police officer because Chad's injuries are so severe she could have been charged with vehicular assault. I doubt they can do anything like that to her now since the police report has already been filed. I just don't know how she can live with her self knowing how bad chad's injuries areburgundyice wrote:Excellent news that Chad has had ice chips & apple sauce!!!![]()

So what is going to happen with the case now? Don't know enough about the system to be honest but surely they ought to be made to pay compensation or something towards Chad's medical costs??

The police dept should be sued as well for filing a deliberately inaccurate report. That's illegal, as well as callous.kerbear879 wrote: Not totally sure..but I assume it's going to turn into more of a civil case. I know! We knew something was up with the police department when it took over 7 weeks to get the police report. I have never in my life seen a car accident take 7 weeks to investigate.karen4bells wrote:What a fantastic week for Chad!! Way to go Chad. It really does look like things are finally going in the right direction and it sounds like he is wanting so badly to get better!! Sending loads of hugs and prayers your way
As for the police and the way they've handled the accident, a big Booooooo to them
WOW!!! That’s fantastic!!! What a wonderful birthday gift!!!kerbear879 wrote:Chad's birthday was yesterday and I think he ended up getting all of us a gift… he grabbed at my face… I gave him one of his baseball hats and he grabbed it and put it on his head and then started readjusting it until he got it on just right… Then later in the day I had one of his nerf type balls and normally he will take it from you if you hold it in front of him, well this time I acted like I was going to throw it and he put his hand up like he was going to catch it so I threw it and he caught it and then he would hand it back to me and he did this over and over…
OOOO!!!! What great improvements!!!kerbear879 wrote:Well Chad is now allowed to have ice chips. They tested him today and he chewed them up and swallowed… She was suprised so she tried to give him some applesauce. It seemed like he swallowed that just fine too… would try the applesauce and maybe pudding later this week and next week… He's also been rolling himself over in the bed… police department and it looks like they covered up what really happened…
This is absolutely wonderful news!!! His progressing really well!!!! So proud of him!! And extremely happy for you both!!!kerbear879 wrote:Chad's had another good day. The physical therapist came into evaluate him and she got him to do 100 percent of the commands she asked him to do.He even did a thumbs up, stuck his tongue out, and threw the ball. I've never even got him to do those things. Also when you feed him the ice chips with the spoon, he will grab the spoon and do it himself… He has to be able to tolerate the therapy for 3 hours a day before he can go to a rehab facility and he's tolerating maybe an hour right now…
