I have lots of bobbins at my house - and I will wind your lovely floss onto them and then keep it all very safe here until you need it

Well still waiting for my HAED's from The Happy Hobbit.....meanwhile have purchased another design....but from The Stitch Boss (a extremely helpful US company) .......'Gryphon' .....which also is the name and spelling of our first son's name
and also 'Celebrate Life's Many Colours' ....love the colours in this one

Jody Bergsma is the designer (some may know her work from the HAED website) and The Stitch Boss has permission to make her works into cross stitch...so cool
both designs I have ordered in the 11x 17 inches
So will be stalking the postman over the coming weeks

These are lovely designs and a new site to add to my list. (Some fabulous projects there - well worth taking a peek at!)

That is so unkind....I had booked my flight too.........made sure there was plenty of room in the case for any stash that happened to want to come home with me.Mabel Figworthy wrote:Dear friends, I am touched by all your offers of help to wind and look after my silkbut I think I'll get some bobbins in town tomorrow

I was merrily posting a letter outside our little post office this orning and the postlady came out and locked the door to go on her rounds. I was just about to get into the car and she asked if I was going home, when I said no going shopping she delved into her trolley and presented me with my post.
It was the afgan baby cover from Mabel. Thanks Mabel is is such a lovely shade of cream too. Hope my cheque has arrived just as quickly.

It did -- arrived safely today, thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of what you're going to do with the afghan; perhaps we could have a combined SAL when i (finally) start mine

Good idea.
I am not planning to rush mine as I have really pre-empted a future birth in the family. Since beginning cross stitch I have wanted to do an afgan. All of my granchildren were born when I was a knitter not a cross stitcher. So when I saw your offer I decided that I would stitch it ready for the first great-grandchild. As the eldest grandchild is 18 and the youngest is 10 I do not think that I have to stitch quickly. Saying that there is a lot of work in this project so I guess I better not sit back on my laurels too long. I normally only have one thing on the go at a time but this really invites me to have two side by side.
Did you say that you have a flower alphabet in mind for yours?

That will be fun to watch, Mabel and Rosemary! I may join you with my celtic afghan, which I wanted to do now, but so many other things came up that I haven't started yet.
And the postman brought to me a fantastic gift from Serinde for knowing what her previous avatar stood for.
She sent me some lovely thread as well as beautiful fabric: some aida and a big piece of white
evenweave or linen? It isn't as bulky as other linens I have worked with but it feels similar, so I am not sure.
Anyway, it's lovely! Also, there is a piece of Aida with gridding woven into it.
THANK YOU, Serinde! Thank you so much!

Rosemary, there was a floral alphabet in one of the magazines years ago, and I managed to get all the issues or editions or what do you call them on eBay so I have the complete alphabet. If I stitch them over one they'll just fit.
Here's a picture from the mag of some of the letters, all in different projects:

Re: Has the postperson brought you anything nice today?
I've had so much from the postman lately I've slightly lost track!
In the last 10 days I've had:
- Two magazines
- A load of threads from Nettie (Thank you!)
- A free kit for renewing my subscription to one magazine
- 3 free DVDs for being a subscriber to another magazine
- A couple of sarcastic comments from my partner until I pointed out that all of these are free except for the magazines which I've been subscribed to for ages, at which point he decided to be impressed instead!

WOW Mabel they are absolutely gorgeous and will look great on an afgan. I love stitching flowers because the colours are so lovely and clear so the effect is always warm and friendly.
I have not selected an alphabet yet as I did not even come up with the idea of doing one for a baby it until you offered it up for sale. In the past it has always just been a whim of looking at other peoples and saying that I wanted to do one.
I do have loads of alphabets around the place but have not looked to see if any are suitable so will enjoy deciding. Currently I am favouring finding something that will last beyond baby so not pastels, possibly an older style that will be cheerful colours and slightly older pictures.

Yes, my replacement silks from Colour Streams! They are gorgeous, and they sent me one to many -- but I like it so much I'm going to keep it and splash out another AUS$5; I deserve it for living through the scullery floor being broken up for that leak
Here they are, they are a stranded nearly-flat silk:
