Re: Knitting - Agi
Can someone help me please?
I am looking for a pattern on how to make a collar something like this:
http://www.theukhighstreet.com/Knitted- ... lands72011" target="_blank
I am knitting a kind of jacket for my daugter, but with no pattern, just going after my head, but now I am stuck.

Wow, that was fast. Thank you both, they are super sites. And I think the second pattern that tiffstitch suggested will be just perfect.

And one more thing: you remember I mentioned buying a bunch of unknown yarn at a thrift shop? I washed one of my swatches and it felted perfectly, so it is definitely wool. Yeah!

Here is the jacket so far. Not much to see, just that I have done a lot. It's a simple rice pattern. I have started with both fronts and the back knitted as one piece so there will be no side seam, and have just started to separate the three parts at the armpit - but still knitting them on the same needle, from different balls. This way the decreases will surely be identical. Since I don't usually work from a pattern, just "by eye", I usually forget how I did the first piece and find it difficult to figure it out for the second
Hope this method will help.

And for those who haven't seen it on Facebook: the hat I knitted for Stephen in a day. He didn't bring his own, thinking it would be spring in Hungary. But it was really cold (it still is), so I made him this hat.

Excellent work, Agi.
Your fingers must have been flying to finish his hat in one day!

He is from Sweden

We have found out that there is not such a big difference in our climates, after all. Who would have thought that! OK, it was minus 26 in Sweden when he was here and we only had minus 5, but he was freezing all the time, it was so funny. I think it might have been the humidity that made the difference, not sure.

I thought perhaps that he was an Englishman living in Sweden as his name does not sound Swedish to me because I knew a family in England with his surname so that was why I asked.benceagi wrote:RosemaryH wrote:Love the hat. Where is Stephen origanally from?

Oh, really? He is half English, his father is English and his mother is Swedish, but he grew up in Sweden. The people you know may well be related to them, this is quite an uncommon name. What a small world

Now the shape of my daughter's jacket can be seen. Only the sleeves left to do, the button band and the collars. I am a bit afraid I might run out of the thread
- but we agreed I will do the edges in black then.
Can you see how I shaped the waistline a bit? She tried it on yesterday and it fits perfectly.
