Not had a good day. Thought I had done well when I found a second hand extension table for my new machine on Fleabay for £25 plus P&P. Only to get a message this afternoon to let me know that the seller had taken it to a charity shop to dispose of it. I suggested they should go and retrieve it but all I got was an offer to refund me. :tantrum: To make it worse no refund yet. :x

This is what Santa brought:

Yes it is big, it will stitch straight through fingers given half a chance and runs more stitches per min than my milling machines can do RPM. The good news is it can make use of the full movement of the frame. I just have a "bit of electrics to do" to get the remote control to work with it.

That theyre machine is a bit of a monster. Looks good, though.
Shame about the table.

The good news is I won a different table on Fleabay. This one is clear plastic and needs to be modified to fit my new machine. Not as good as having the correct one but at least it is a table extension and I know I can do the mods

I would like to be able to show you my modification to the quilting frame remote control to avoid forking out £85 for another when the only difference is the connector on the sewing machine end but post image is not loading images. The remote is nothing more than a 10K pot, a momentary button and a push to make/push to break switch. Buzzed out against the foot control and only difference I can see is I suspect one of the pots is log and the other lin. My new adapter cable works very nicely and the remote has been mounted back on the quilting frame :D

The next in the never ending set of frustrations in trying to buy/set up this new sewing machine is the free motion quilting set I paid for last Saturday. It made it to the courier office on monday and there has sat for five days. It should have made it to their hub by Tuesday but nothing. Twice I have contacted Evri to ask what is going on and now I have resorted to the seller. I can't practise with my new machine on the Quilting frame without the right foot :tantrum:

If you think it is a bit foggy don't worry that is only the steam coming out of my ears

I have tracking for a cheap pocket watch (<£20 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/382515655155 ... R4zFxs7zZA) that got to Evri and 12 October was the last time it moved. Round here Evri is appalling and may be similar nationwide. I can sympathise.

Richard.

I've just sent Evri another "Grump Mail" in response to their bland reply:
Good morning Joanne,

As promised I've checked your parcel this morning and I'm sorry it wasn't delivered. I'm pleased to see this is now on it's way to you. As soon as the courier has your parcel, you will receive an ETA.

I trust that this resolves your query and the delay wasn't too much of an inconvenience.

Kind Regards,
Claire

Evri Customer Services
My reply:

Your online tracking still shows that my parcel has not moved for 5 days and has not been updated for 24 hours. This is my second query chasing this and being that I raised this enquiry after lunch and I got a “good Morning” I suspect that I have been given another automated BOT reply.

What I want to know is when is my local Evri courier “Adrian” going to receive this important parcel? I have every confidence in him, but after 5 days of no progress of your wider Evri business I have my doubts if I am ever going to receive this.

Please think: if you or your family have a medical appointment delayed your companies effectiveness at delivering parcels may be the root cause.

My frustrated response to Evri seems to have worked and my quilting foot might be delivered today.

This is the "bodge" to get the remote working:

The Foot control on my new sewing machine is operating at 5V DC so I do not need a high voltage insulation to make an adapter. First shape up some Nylon to match the HD9's connector and check the pins all line up:

Image

Then add a bit of cable, brass pins soldered onto the machine end of the wires, slide some sockets onto the pins on the remote's pins, apply heat shrink between all wires for insulation and as a cable protector and one adapter cable:

And it works so that is £85 saved 8)

Please note: I did a 4 year Electronics apprenticeship so I do know what I am doing fiddling around with electrics. If you don't have the experience/knowledge please do not fiddle with it. Especially with older machines which have 230V AC wiring to their foot controls.

I like the medical touch to your complaint, hope that gets them thinking and working!

I'd ordered a metre of fabric for kits from a company plus a sample of that fabric in a different colour as it's difficult to tell on a screen. I received the fabric but not the sample. The order confirmation says orders may arrive in separate parcels but surely, surely, they wouldn't send a 10cm square sample separately if they were already sending me a big envelope full of fabric?

Yes they would. Apparently they are sent from different departments. So much for trying to keep one's carbon footprint down.

Jo, my hat is off to you! I have spent my life surrounded by engineers of various sorts, and both men and women, and I know never to touch! Once, when helping one of them put together an essay, he looked at me with a grin and said, "Us engineers don't need no English." Everyone has their place in the choir.

Next bodge it and run: A 99p win on Fleabay.

Image

An Embroidery table and  Its bigger than I expected. No the hole/slot does not fit my new machine and the legs are too high but when have I let that stop me

What I need to work out is how far I want the front part of the table in front of the machine. Once I am happy with that I can recut the slot for my machine :D

Cutting the Acrylic was exciting because if you get it wrong it cracks or welds itself back together. The legs have been reduced by 20mm height so they go low enough:

I am calling that success but I still wonder what it originally came from :? It now fits my HD9 8) I need to do something relaxing to recover like ... :D cross stitch.

Picked up my Christmas present to myself last week at Certificate class - it's a 16" slate frame hand-made by the father of one of my tutors. It is beautiful and incredibly tactile!
