Here's the next update on this - I've been working on it at home this week as well as at work, as I'm getting close to finishing. Another page finished and I'm working on the half page at the bottom now. Then only another one and a half pages to go and it's done!

That dark bit under the mask would have driven me mad! Do I see confetti stitches of other darks besides black in there?

Thanks everyone for all the great comments!

Mabel, there are indeed confetti stitches in the black - in about three different shades of navy! It's awful to do unless you've got really good natural light. But.... I've been at it again like mad all afternoon today as it's getting so close to the end now and I've finished the other half page at the bottom. Only one and a half pages left!
