Willow, you can do HAEDs on any type of fabric and in any stitch you like - just take into account the different sizes the design will come out with different counts and do some test stitching to make sure you're happy with the coverage.

Two of the other HAEDs in my box (only around 100 stiches done on each) are on 25ct, but both are much lighter in colour than the Queen of Hearts so will have a lighter, more sketchy feel about them. With Queenie I wanted as good coverage as possible but also wanted to do tent stitches to make it go quicker, so I went for 28 ct :)

And here is a funny photo I took of all the threads so you'd get to see my (not very technical) thread organisation system! (cereal box)

Although I store my thread collection on bobbins, it seems to work much better for me to have the threads for my current project on cards all together like this, then I can get them quickly and have them labelled with the chart symbol rather than the DMC number.

And while I'm here (been so busy at work this week with a work experience student I haven't had much forum time!), here she is with 2 rows of pages complete! Taken on my stitching chair :)

I really really  this pattern! It's on my wish list along with a few other Rachel Anderson pieces. (red happens to be one of my favorite colors). I just can't believe how fast you are stitching this..I know it's tent stitches and that goes a bit quicker but still, you are just blowing through this. But like you said, I think a lot of that is because you love the design. I totally agree that if you love what you are working on then of course you will be wanting to stitch it all the time! Can't wait to see this one progress even more! :applesauce: :applesauce:

I like your not so technical method. If it works for you then it is a perfect way to have your thread. :applesauce: Your stitching is wonderful. Love that face.

This is beautiful Louise. This is a design my daughter has asked me to do for her but I have'nt quite plucked up enough courage to try a HAED design. Perhaps I will give it a go now I have seen yours. Really well done. Lynne

I do a very similar thing with my threads on projects that don't have a floss organizer. I use notecards to write the number and symbol. I also put extra holes for any blended colors I may be using.

It is looking great! :applesauce:

Two rows + 1 page done!

Image

It's getting into a pattern - the pages at each end of the row have some of the black/brown roses & twirly bits, the middle is obviously the figure with all her confetti!, but the in-between pages are just a mixture of 2 or 3 reds, ***which isn't all that interesting*** :? Those are to follow in the next pictures, still, there'll eventually be less & less background once I get to where her skirt flares out :)

Well altogether there are 81 pages, 9x9 BUT (before you pass out!) the 9 pages down the right hand side are just a single column of stitches, and the 9 along the bottom row are just a few rows less than quarter of a page. Works out as 64 full pages (and I'm currently on page 29 :D :applesauce: :D but that's in a few picture's time so you'll have to wait. In the last photo the 2 rows + 1 page was onto page 19.
