[When I was a child we lived in Somerset for a while, and on the A358 from Ilminster to Chard at Hornsbury Mill there was a WW2 Bailey bridge over the River Isle. The design life of Bailey Bridges was months, possibly a couple of years. The bridge had been put up in 1946. It was still there in 1985 when we moved out of area, and the 'Temporary Bridge' sign had nearly rusted away at that point too. So it was a 'Permanent Temporary Bridge'. The bridge is gone now - I've checked on Google Streetview, pity really.]
