Lovely work Sarah, It's amazing how much you are able to do in half an hour.

I love watching this one grow (I love sunflowers). I don't think I could sit and stitch before going to work. I'd lose track of time and never make it there.

That looks great! I always like to see how a stitcher progresses in their projects. from one corner to the next?, one color at a time? or from middle to out! So exciting to watch!

I'm still continuing with this every morning before work and I convinced myself that on the weekends when I'm at home, it's morning until 12 noon, so I can cram some extra stitches in! Hopefully I'll get a good session in tomorrow and Sunday this week and then maybe another week and it'll be finished. I'll do an update picture this Sunday.
I've discovered one problem though and I think someone here has mentioned a similar problem before. This is a Lanarte kit and it looks like I'm going to run out of two of the colours.

Lanarte list their colours as 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on, obviously to prevent people reusing the chart over and over.
But does anybody know if they use Anchor or DMC or something obscure? I'm sure I could match the two colours myself if I had an inkling. I think I'll probably have something like 50 stitches to do in the two dwindling colours and they're not anything particularly important that will stick out like a sore thumb. I'll try going through my box of DMC first anyway, given that I've got about 75% of the colour range.

Hi Sarah,
I think it might have been me you read complaining about this. It's not that I have a shortage - in my Lanarte kit they've massively over-supplied! It's more that afterwards, I don't have any way of knowing whether I can add the threads to my DMC floss collection and if so, what numbers they are.
I've found this list of FAQs on the Lanarte website
http://www.lanarte.com/default.asp?A1PI ... 4101220090" target="_blank
It has part way down these questions and answers
Why are not the DMC-numbers mentioned on the pattern anymore?
The DMC-numbers are not mentioned anymore, as we frequently ascertain a misuse of the copyright on our patterns. In order to avoid our pattern being copied illegally, we decided to take this measure.
I am short of threads to finish my embroidery, where can I get these?
The Lanarte embroidery kits are provided with ample embroidery yarn. In the exceptional case that the kit does not contain enough threads, you can go to any Lanarte sales outlet with your embroidery. If the shortage is genuine, you will get a supplement of threads which you are short of for free.
I cannot find a symbol on the colour table, whereas this symbol is printed on the pattern.
This is a special symbol. In the description you can read why. These symbols often relate to the fact that two different DMC-colours are to be combined.
It would seem that it probably is DMC thread, but it's not clear. If you have a Lanarte dealer near you, it seems that they may even give you the missing colours for free, though don't know how long this would take.

Whenever I've run out of colors for a kit, I've always found that the company has been willing to send me a bit extra free of change (except once when it was a 16 year old kit

that they hadn't stocked in years, and they didn't have any colors left from that dye lot. They still would have sent me the closest thing they had, but I would have had to send them a sample of the color so they could try to match it. It was easier to buy a "new" 16 year old kit off ebay for $5, so I didn't have to worry about the dye lots not matching, as it would have been REALLY obvious).
I would just contact them and tell them what you need - I haven't dealt with Lanarte, but the two other companies I've done this with have been very fast.

Oh, that's a great help, thank you both!
This kit was a Christmas present and I don't know any Lanarte stockists anywhere near me, but at least I know they use DMC so with any luck I should be able to match the colours without too much trouble. I think one is a goldy-browny sort of colour and the other is a yellow - they're both quite distinctive so I should be ok. If not, I will write to Lanarte and ask for help.
Funny they should say their kits are all supplied with ample thread though, because I am always very frugal with my thread and stitch until I barely have enough left to thread through the back of the work, I'm such a tight-wad, and I don't remember doing any frogging on this project either, and yet as well as the 2 colours that are about to run out, at least half of the others are going to be cutting it very fine.
Maybe the person who packs up the kits was having a bit of an off day when they did mine.

Good news, I took my threads out in the sun at the weekend and managed to match the ones I ran out of with my DMC collection. I actually ran out of 7 colours by then, but luckily, I had all of them in my bobbin box and they were quite easy to match, mostly being bright yellow, bright red and so on. Here's another update - still working on this every morning.

Wonderful progress Sarah. Really glad you were able to sort the threads easily, but it's really annoying when you have a kit, to run short like that.

So pleased you managed to sort the thread issue. And the panel is looking brilliant

I'm so impressed you manage to do some every morning - it takes me all my effort to get out of bed and get myself ready for work, that I just couldn't contemplate stitching then. The stitching travels with me instead for lunchtime
