Thank you everyone for all the lovely comments!!

I would dearly love to do this on linen or evenweave - but fear 'small holes' as I just can't count the threads in two's any more!!

.... mind you, I did invest in a pair of glasses from the chemist (for the grand price of 10€!!) so might just give it a go!!
As a matter of interest .. has anyone ever bought hand dyed Aida? I love the look of the linens, but don't know if it would look anywhere near as good in Aida.

Is it from Passion Fil? I love it.
About the handdyed Aida, check out Polstitches. I bought a "grabbag" with handdyed aida from them, to see whether I liked it or not and I must ay I loved it. The grabbag has only smaller pieces in ot but I might take some nice coupons of aida later on.

I received some hand dyed Aida from silkweavers.... I looooooooved it. It's what I used on my satisfaction blackwork design and the recent I Stitch therefore I Stash design.. I loved it because it was soooooo soft compared to how stiff Aida normally is.

I was given a piece of hand-dyed aida and really liked it, it was soft and the colours lent extra interest to it; I used it for my Reindeer christmas ornament.

Oops, got so excited about the Aida I forgot to reply to your question!!
It's from 'Mains & Merveilles - Point de Croix'. I found the 'Passion Fil' above my stitching level .... so I sent it to Mabel!!

I bought a few copies of Passion Fil on ebay. It's above my level too, but I love the designs in it. Might try them once. I just hate it that I have to buy it on ebay, cause I can't find it here. And on ebay they charge like 200% of the original retail price.
