The backs of mine are so messy. I would be far to embarressed to show you on here As long as the front looks good who cares!

Heres the backsides of 4 projects that I have yet to frame or finish.. or even figure out what I am going to do with yet. I don't do many patterns that have a lot of confetti stitching. Most of my patterns have blocks of colors. And my pumpkin.. well that whole thing was only 2 colors.

I don't worry much about what the back side looks like.. It will get covered up. As long as the front looks OK, thats all I worry about.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas.. this one, I am going to add a few more people into.. then quilt a frame and hang it from an iron rod


And my WIP.. a copy of a Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass window.. I don't think there is any fixing on this one.. I think it will be easier to just start over.

After all these pictures of very neat backs I feel it is necessary to show you a picture of my messy back. This is the back of my The Awakening HAED.

Maggie: I bow to your backside greatness.

Becca: Your work on this piece is stunning. I'd hate trying to keep a neat back with that level of complexity and the number of color changes.

I love looking at your backs, just shows how much work, patience, effort and most of all, love, we put into our stitches

Don't be bothered by your back if a non stitcher looks at it well they don't have a clue how it should look and a stitcher would look at the complexity of the piece before commenting on how messy it is and then they may have tips to help keep it tidy!

I always frame/cover the back of my stitching, so I don't worry about the back either. Of course, I do hope no one ever unframes (is that a word LOL?) any of my work and peek at the back.

The back of your WIP looks pretty awesome to me! I like how it looks from the back

Thanks for that Becca..the back of my HAEDs pretty much look just like that..I'll have to remember to take a pic of the back next time.

I promise to show the back of my work... someday. I tend to stitch by colour rather than section, and I hope around a lot (depending on the project). When I'm finished with an area, I trim it up and it looks decent. Mid-project or section though, it's a nasty mess and I'm too embarrassed to show it.

It is good to read about others who worry about the backs of their projects I mostly do afghans so the backs are often seen (even if by mistake) so I try to keep them neat, which isn't easy. Now that I've seen some of the pictures of others backs I am . Does make me look forward to doing a project that will be framed. I'm afraid I will get lazy about the backs. Right now I spend a lot of time weaving threads through in the back so that they don't show, or stitching very small areas when there are many spaces between a particular color. Ya'll are keeping me on my toes.
