I'm afraid I'm really bad at this, I stick my needles in my armchair, flat though. Somehow they do manage to escape. DH found one in his foot when I was staying at my girlfriends house and had to hobble up to the hospital cos it snapped off inside his foot..... He was not very happy.
I have my own horror story to tell though. Years ago when I still lived at home I used to sew most of my own clothes, so I always had needles and pins going astray as I sewed in my room, and cut out on the floor. Inevitably I stood on a needle, a very thick one, cos it was denim I was working with, and it went in and came out the top of my second toe, it didn't bleed, but it freaked me out cos I couldn't pull it out. My dad had to get some pliers to pull it out, it was awful!!
Many years later I stood on glass and had to get an xray, and the lady showed me there was no glass but a strange ridge going up the bone of my second toe. When I told her bout the needle incident she went pale and said the force I'd stepped on the needle had actually grazed the bone!!

I think that looks a bit dangerous. I think I will stick with my pants or the pin cushion I have on my stand.

when i'm in process of looking for my floss - changing colors, i just stick my needle into my hoodie which i wear all the time cause people i live with think they have to freeze me butt off even in winter ~L~ so stick it on the sleeve and because i do sit at computer desk -chair comfortable ~L~ , i also will lay it on the surge protector my monitior's on.

So your family is certain that if you're cold long enough you'll learn to love it, too?
I thought it was just my office co-workers who had that sort of mind set!

We have the same temperature wars in my household. I'm afraid it's always cold in my flat, well, I don't think it is, but DH is always moaning to put the heating on. Thing is you can put clothes ON if it's cold, but when the heatings on and I'm hyperventilating I can't get cool!! I go and try to sneakily turn the thermastat down to 15, or go in the bedroom and open the window, until he relents and puts some clothes on so I can turn the heating off!
