I specifically chose a darker thread to work with so I wouldn't mistake it for the fabric... It's pretty sloppy, I think definitely need a hoop when I'm stitching these. I need to get more confident with cutting the fabric.. maybe on my next attempt I won't be afraid to cut closer.. As it is, I really like it.. Makes it look like it's a monster with mouths full of teeth

You are doing really well Faith :applesauce:

I also have the book myself but am struggling to comfortably see the 22ct, so might get some different fabric.

Using threads and fabric with such a contrast is bound to make the cut ends more visible, and even when yo look at the model stitched pieces in New Stitches, you'll see those cut ends, so don't worry, you're doing great!

If like me you really hate the sight of those stumps of fabric thread poking out, I have found a time-consuming but very effective way of getting rid of them. I haven't tried to describe it on paper (it's much easier to show) but if you're interested PM me and I'll have a go at a description of the process :-)

Both of your hardanger pieces are so full. What kind of thread did you use? And I'm surprised seeing it done on Aida, I thought you could only do it on evenweave. Well done, it looks amazing. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Corey, it's actually 22 ct Hardanger fabric, but it did feel like I was using Aida.. As for the thread.. I lost the little tag with its name on it. I want to say it was something along the lines of "Enchanted Midnight".. :thinks:

So pretty -- the colours of the thread and fabric really complement each other, and your dove's eyes are looking good! Can I give one tip? When you come to the very end of the dove's eye, make sure to go underneath the very first bit to make it look symmetrical. Hope this pic shows what I mean (start at A):

Oh Faith, these are wonderful!! Well done! I love the colours you've used.

Are these the first 3 designs in the book?
I'm hoping to get that book soon, just looking around to price it up at the moment. After having a try at Mabel's gorgeous delft, I'm really keen to try more.
