Maggie M - I will PM you - thanks for taking the time to post your method - I'd not actually thought of combining tent stitch and half cross stitches, hopefully my fabric samples will arrive today so I can experiment...

Wonderful start on your Starry Night!! :applesauce: :applesauce:

Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the 'over 1'!! Never done it myself - but after Maggie's post I think I could now!! :D

I am so glad this discussion came up. Maggie M, I did a print screen of your explanation of tent stitch and half stitch. When you are doing this then is that how you do the cross stitches? Is that what I understood. That works for evenweave and linen fabrics for a 2 over 1? and 1 over 1? I have only have done aida (usually 16 or 18 count) and am ready to branch out now that I have a support group to catch me!

Mrs MBK: Looking very much forward to seeing your progress. This is a lovely piece.

Just had a peek at your SAL Charmagne, gorgeous stitching and gorgeous design - can't wait to start mine (must wait til payday, must wait til payday!) I see you like Margaret Sherry designs - me too. Future Publishing are bringing out a Margaret Sherry 'Bookazine' (like they did for Joan Elliot) - though I expect I have all the designs already....somewhere!

Just finished this one stitched on 28ct Jobelan 3 over 2:

Image

Missing a bead for the eye and a bigger bead for the nose. Eventually it will be made into a cushion - once I have stitched the matching 'tail end' cushion! Does anyone else have a pile of 'to make up' stitching as well as your pile of WIPs??!!

Thought I had better take a pic of where I am on Starry Night WT:

Image

Desperate to get the first page under my belt! I've also been working out all the threads I need for my HAEDs and the order in which I need threads/fabby for my new starts over the coming months - can't wait to make a start on those. On the HAED BB they are having a new start SAL in July so will be nice to join in with that for my first HAED.

What do you mean "anyone"? Doesn't everyone? ;)

Nice work on the dachshund and Starry Night!

This is gorgeous already; I'm so excited to see more of it! I think it's so cool that a painting can be translated into cross stitch, and still look so fantastic.

Are the little single stitches floating around the bottom of the design "confetti"? I keep seeing this word used here, but I'm not completely sure what it means. I'm guessing it means the single stitches, since everyone says it's so slow. :)

Confetti stitching is basically where you have only one or two stitches of a colour in isolation i.e no runs of stitching in a single colour. This design has A LOT of confetti stitching - but that is why I (hope!) it will look amazing when finally finished!

Starry Night and the dog both look amazing :)
I can only agree, I guess all the confetti on Starry Night is what makes it look so amazing when it's finished :)

You can get Magic Aida (14ct/18ct) or evenweave (25ct) from the online shops Across Town Stitching or Cross Stitch Heaven, both of which are also on ebay.
