:) I am using a hoop... I bought a wood frame but it is too small for this one... I tried folding over the fabric a bit and no matter what I do it won't be taught enough for me. I'm just going to be really careful with the hoop.

Thanks everyone :)

I have come a long way and will post a picture after the weekend is over... lots and lots of half cross stitches with 6 strands of thread... hard to anchor and finish neatly. The backside is an absolute atrocity at this point... I had meant to do it neatly and it was nice for a while... but then I got to the the big thick half stitch confettis :\

Hi Heather,

I'm almost finished this one, but have had to stop to get some xmas stitching done!
You mentioned anchoring for your six strand stitches, I use the loop method of starting and it's a lot neater, also makes your thread shorter so less fraying and thinning for your last stitches. I hope this makes sense, if not I'm sure someone more experienced will explain it a bit better. Here's an update of mine, just to give you some inspiration. Enjoy x

Good luck with all the half xstitch. If you don' t know the loop method, you take 3 strands of floss, double them over and thread through your needle. Leave the loop at the long end, stitch one half stitch, then poke your needle through the loop and tighten and then continue to stitch normally. It will leave you less in the back to have to fiddle with. Hope that makes sense, first time I've tried to explain it. :)

Gorgeous!!!

I do use the loop method actually... although I forgot about it for my first couple of 6-strand stitches. And then there is the issue of all of the 5 strand stitches (if I fold over 2/3 threads it works!)... I am using it now. Much easier to pull everything through and keep it a bit neater :)

Hi Heather,

Have you stitched any blending filament yet? The kit says stitch your cross, then stitch it again with the blending filament, which obviously means twice the work, but that's what I've done and it really shows up well. I spoke to someone who said they just stitch both threads at once and I wondered how different it looks.

Just a wee tip too that may not be needed :thinks: I kept getting the blending filament in knots so bought one on a spool and it is so much easier to stitch with. Hope this helps,

BTW I didn't mention how lovely and neat your stitching is :applesauce: .

When I use blending filament I stitch it with the thread not over previously stitched floss. I think it doesn't sparkle as much, but I like it with a more subtle look so it depends on your preference, like everything else in cross stitch. room to do what you like best.

In an older design I did, I used blending filament and the colour (in this case white) together and it didn't show up evenly. On this chart there are lots of blended colours and I think they have a nice effect, but the filament is too subtle to do that I think.

I followed the instructions with this one and do the cross stitches first then go over them later. I absolutely hate the blending filament itself though... frays/breaks/knots so easily.

Anyway here is where I am now... I folded my chart into sections and am basically doing one section at a time. Here's the first section.
