I did the T. I think it looks good, but not sure if it's still missing something. I mounted it to see how it will look, but I still need to get the sticky backing board to make the fabric flush.

Honest opinions, please. Should I make a border on the T? Add something on the bottom?

Looking good, nice T.

I think I would maybe do a small something bottom right in the lighter floss you have used in the tree, it might look more balanced. Perhaps another little (is it a) squirrel facing inwards.

Edit: no its a rabbit

and perhaps a few of the flowers.

maybe you could add the date? in the same floss as the leaves? to balance it at the bottom?

Either the date under the T or your mum's name maybe?

What alphabet chart did you use?

I thought that. Add something in silver, to connect it to the tree. Wish it was something related, like the rabbit and flowers, but I was thinking something slightly more "robust", so it's more visible?

A branch with some of the leaves?

The Alphabet is from that site Mags suggested, it only has Capitals.

I think it looks good. I also think it would be nice to add the date, in one of the silvery threads you used in the tree. Doesn't have to be very large at all, in the lower right corner. I love the font you used for the T. It fits with the tree so well. I'm so glad you were able to find a box too, which is very pretty.l I like how it frames the piece, very much.

I found this from the Oakhaven group, maybe if I skip the bees, and just do the flower and leaves in silver, do you think it'd match?

Not even sure of it myself. I'm confused!

I'm thinking of the date like you guys said, but no idea how I'd do it without it being sorta invisible. Or do you think the date should be "December, 2011" Or just 2011 with some flourishes around it? Ack!

I love the box, the monogram and the oakhaven design. I think it will look great without the bees and in silver

I think what you have done so far looks lovely, actually and doesn't really need anything more, but the Oak Haven design without the bees and in silvery colors would be pretty. The fabric itself is so pretty that it is part of the whole picture. If that makes any sense at all.
Would you do it in regular cross stitch? or do one of the specialty stitches for the leaves?

I started it in satin, regular stitches. I'll have to shrink the design a little bit for it to fit, so I'll see how it looks, if I'm not happy, I might just take it out and write 2011 with some flourishes around it.

I like it how it is, but I do feel there's a bit of empty space under the T.

The initial is beautiful and makes it personal to her! I think you're right that the space under the T could do with something, but I was thinking (a bit late, sorry) perhaps a small band (or a few narrow bands) of stitches used in the tree, using the colours of the tree?

I like that! I'll see with fresh eyes what I've done so far under the T, but as of last night I had a half a mind to pick it out and think of something else.

This is coming along very nicely. You really are making lemonade from lemons. I know this has been very stressful. It is going to be lovely and a wonderful gift for your mom. Everyone has had great ideas.
