So, I'm a ding dong. I was looking at the instructions to this tonight and discovered I've been doing it wrong. It's supposed to be 2 over 2, and I was doing 2 over 1.

Which makes sense, because I was wondering why some of it was kind of bulky.
I suppose I'll start over. The only problem now is I wasn't using my brain when I first started it years ago, and used the original to mark my stitches done. Double

Maybe that is why it was put away in the first place.
I do hope that you can start it again as it is such a lovely one. Is the bulkiness too obvious to ignore or is it just that you don't like it. What is written down in the instructions does not always mean we have to do it that way.
We all make these sort of mistakes at some stage so don't beat up on yourself too hard please - we would like you to be around and stitching for a long time to come
Sally.

the one I did was on afghan fabric 18 ct and did 2 over 1. Is yours a much higher count?
The photo you did post didn't look bulky and I know that I was thinking that at first when doing my LOTR which is also 2 over 1 and on 25 ct. Sometimes it looks bulky to us because we are looking at it so closely.
I just checked and both charts are in the same book so I can't send you just the one you need. Can you make a copy of what you have done and then use that as a working copy and then mark off the stitches in a different color or highlight?

Yeah. It's on 28 ct. I started this before I knew what "over 2" meant. Oops.
Luckily I wasn't super far, and it was only one page I had marked on. I think I'll try to photocopy it and see how that looks.
Squirrel, I plan on starting this one over. It is much too pretty to not be done.
