This is one where the backstitch really does become part of the design. I like it a lot. Great job.

i'm doing the backstitch as I go along and am quite enjoying it so far.
I am a bit worried abouth the names as I have no idea yet what they will be and I realized the other day that there isn't a huge amount of room so I am really hoping the baby doesn't get a long name!
Yeah, I was worried when I realised This baby had three names! It is quite a faff to put the names in, or is when you have poor concentration like me! I did do the names and then the background though.
Finished! Had a bit of a nightmare with the green checked bit, kept making mistakes and had to frog bits of it about four times! So I had a bit of a break from it but when I went back it finished fine. I've used my ribbon and button trick to finish it off and I'm really pleased with it!
Close up of one of the buttons, they are gorgeous wood buttons. And the ribbon is East of India.
The ribbon and those lovely buttons really set that off nicely! Well done!
May I 'borrow' your idea for the finish please? I have a lovely funny giraffe nearly finished for my granddaughter and it had a nice pattered border. I also have some lovely ceramic giraffe buttons from S Africa. I wanted to use them on the finished piece but couldn't think how to do so effectively. That's JUST PERFECT!
