Ruth and Jaxom - but especially Ruth - are my favourite Pern characters ever.

I think my favorites actually are Menolly (have to check the spelling) and her little queen dragonet Beauty. But I would not turn down a Golden Queen Dragon (like Ramoth) given the opportunity.

I'm another Pernaholic! I'm just listening to them for the first time, just finished Dragonquest. Of course I've read them all over and over but I have trouble reading these days. I once was reading Dragonflight on the tube, and despite it being my 10 th or so time of reading it I was so engrossed that when I finally looked up, I realised I was sitting in an empty tube train in a siding!! Luckily the guard found me and they had to drive to a station to let me off I actually emailed Anne herself and told her and she replied thinking it was a great story.

I agree Todd isn't quite as good, but there are a lot of Pern stories that still need to be told and I think he does a pretty good job.

We need to start a Pernaholic thread. We know that dragons make great cross stitch subjects. The audiobooks are great. One of the best narrators around did the first four I think. Maybe more. I have many of her other books also in both book and audio. Find them great for re listening to also.

I don't think I've listened to any of her books, only read them, so I'll have to find them to borrow or check Audible now that so many of you have recommended them. You're right about a Pernaholic thread Carole. I always loved hearing the minstrel mentioned although his name isn't coming to me "R something"?

Its been a while since I read or listened to them. The first one I got was on audiotape that was double sided. Listened first with the right ear, then the left. Made them less expensive way back when and you could get cassette players with full balance control. Much easier (and cheaper) now. I'm going to have to repurchase them. Audible has many of her books.
