What does parking mean?

Here it is again, to save you having to hunt for it: http://www.scarletquince.com/parking.php" target="_blank" target="_blank. I use this method in 10 stitch wide columns and it works perfectly for me.

I've been parking for a while now and have found that using small metal hair barrettes works really well. I do turn my work over to start and end threads. I hated having the clips and thread flop around when I flipped, so I use little magnets (think plain magnetic needleminders) to hold the clips in place (or just clip it to the side of the fabric when you have more clips going).

When you work a section, do you put needles on all of the threads attached to that particular hair barrette? If so, how do you handled all of those "needled" threads? Looks like an efficient system for keeping threads out of the way, just not clear how things are done when you're actively stitching.

I use the barrettes only on threads from sections I'm not currently working. I work in 10x10 columns, so those are the only "loose" threads. I keep needles on all of them and either secure the needle in my scroll cover or just put the needle halfway into a hole to keep it in place. I never have them fall out when I flip my frame.



I sometimes work with 30+ threads at once, and I am very careful and conscious of where I stick the needle so the threads don't get ridiculously tangled.

I follow the parking instructions by Scarlet Quince (posted earlier), so I don't usually put in a stitch if there is no stitch above it, which means I switch between threads frequently.

I have one brilliant idea a year. That is the one from 2012. Glad that it'll help someone else.

I use those same sorts of clips for keeping fabric covering my stitching when it is on the frame and not being stitched upon. They are so handy!

I just started my first HAED and I am so going to steal this idea too!! great thinking!
