And I thought I was the only one who forgot what my fabric was. I have finally learned to at the very least write the count in the selvage or even better, attach a paper with the fabric type, color, count, and intended project. I have a habit of buying fabric for a project, rolling it up and storing it, and then forgetting (1) what project it was for and (2) what it is.

(I have the same problem with my crochet projects. I would buy the yarn, store it, and then forget what it was for. I recently donated two big bags of yarn to a local senior apartment complex here because I had no idea what the yarn was for. Now I try to put the afghan instructions in the bag with the yarn. We'll see how that works.)

Nice stash! Are the shop owners completely closing up or are they doing something else? I always feel so badly when small shops like that close up - good luck with avoiding that crabby shop!

Debby-
Oh yes.. I HAVE to put pattern + fabric into its own bag as soon as I get it otherwise I would forget where it belongs. Fabric seems to be my first step in kitting. Soon after buying fabric, I'll bring chart into work.. scan and make a working copy. It goes right into the bag with the fabric. Then that bag goes into my project box.. along with all the others waiting to be started. When I think I'll be working on it soon, thats when I start pulling threads. I buy fabric so far ahead of time.. if I didn't separate it out.. I would be lost as to what it was supposed to go with.. and did I buy fabric for this chart? Where did it go? Hope I didn't use it for something else..

Nice to know I am in good company with forgetting fabric counts. I'm terrible. Once I figure out what size I need, the details float right out of my head. A lot of the time, I'll scribble measurement notes in the margin of the chart.. as long as I am reading the right scribble, it will tell me what count I went with. I leave the label on as long as I can. But its usually tucked up under my q snap guard, not to be seen until I finish and take it off its frame.

Tracy-
Unfortunately.. completely closing up.
I was hoping they would keep their buisness license.. so I could still put in orders for patterns and such from them. Almost like an insiders buying group. But nope.. completely shutting doors and locking up tight. She is hoping to be out of the space by end of Sept. All the fixtures and store models had price tags on them.. sad sad
Anyone need a 5 ft tall spinner rack for their threads?? Now thats a storage system!

So sorry to hear your favorite LNS is closing. It's great that you have the opportunity to add to your stash.

I know this problem all too well. I am also in the process of donating about 2/3 of my yarn stash to 2 charities. I bought stash for afghans, but I don't really have an outlet for them, so I decided to focus on cross stitch!

One nice thing about stitchy stash is that it doesn't take up as much space as yarn.

Wow, I'm really glad I read this message. I ran over there and got 2 large pieces of 25ct lugana, some extra qsnap clamps, another pack of needles, and some floss. This is so sad, but not a total surprise. It was too good to be true, to have a convenient, friendly cross stitch store.
I have so much fabric now, I just need more time to use it. I keep it in several bags, with a sheet of paper, listing the type, color, count and size of each piece, and its designated use, if it was bought for a specific project.
These newest pieces are 29x34 and 33x36 inches and will be used for some of my large charts, when I can start the next round of rotations.

I just called- Q snaps and clips are all gone.

Bummer.. I should have thought of a set of 11" clips when I was there Monday.

Glad you saw the message Sue and could snatch up a few pieces of fabric. If only Jill could have been one of the Powerball winners! (or me.. I would have kept them open too!!)
