It's not easy getting used to so many finishes so quickly, but since the diamond outline is repeated in each Round there aren't as many new stitches to learn. Two views of "Evening". Despite Laverne taking credit for the work, I did the stitching!
closeup
Started "Spring" using some of my new threads. I think I might have to take a break when I'm half way through (if there is time) since my other projects are starting to whine.

Laverne seems very keen to take the credit -- and she's guarding it well too, I don't think she wants you to give it away
It looks really attractive in those blues, and good work on the X-bars. Hope the repetitiveness is relaxing, not boring

So pretty Carole, beautiful job on them!
Hmmm, as long as Laverne is going to take credit for the stitching, you'll have to teach her how to actually do it, lol...

Spring is here! For this piece I moved from all DMC perle threads to adding Caron's Primrose Wildflowers and Water Colours . I'm afraid I am falling in love with these threads now. I think the match to the DMC pink is pretty good. Is there a better choice for solid threads to match the Caron? I saw very few solids available at 123Stitch. Have a number of the threads in my wishlist now. I am so bad
The French door has been open so Laverne has deserted me for views of squirrels, birds and the always intriguing lizards that crawl up the screen door.

Mabel, there is nothing boring about these pieces. Enough new stitches to keep me focused and definitely providing the practice that I want as well. I love the differences in the colors and even though I plan to stick to the same 4 shades for each "Round", since none are exact copies there is more than enough to keep it fun and interesting. Never repetitive and almost always relaxing. (French knots are in the next one, so relaxing may not apply there)
Thanks for looking!

All your Mabel pieces are brilliant Carole - I'm just catching up! I'm in love with Caron threads too and have a weakness for them (who am I kidding I have a weakness for ANY hand dyeds

!), more so Waterlillies for me as I seem to have fallen off the Hardanger wagon at the mo! You can get a few Wildflowers as solid colours and Soie Cristale is Caron's solid 12 stranded silk - but I think your colour matching is perfect!

As Amanda said you could match your variegated Caron threads with some of their solid Wildflowers and Soie Cristale, although the stranded silks are rather expensive and it can mount up quickly!
Primrose is a gorgeous colour, so unlike any of its pictures I've seen online

Thank you both for the info on the threads. I am going to do my best to stay away from the silks. If I don't know how wonderful they are to stitch with then I won't know what I'm missing! Mabel, Primrose stitched even prettier than it looked. I really love the subtle changes in color. I'm using lavender Mist right now and i love it. Should be posting "North" tomorrow.

Finished "North". As you can see Miss Laverne supervised from the beginning. Which I needed since she was refusing to move from in front of the directions.

Then she apparently thought closer supervision was required

But we managed. Stitched with Caron Lavender Mist Wildflowers and Water Colors
I then needed to cut more of the lugana so I could move on to the next piece (Morning) and when I went to get the scissors, my supervisor arrived

Also gives a pretty good idea of my stitchy space (and my messy table)
Thanks for looking
Carole

Your helpers are adorable, and so, ehm, helpful
North has come out beautifully -- is that Caron Lavender Mist by any chance? on Vintage Marble Lugana?

Thank you Mabel and Laverne thanks you too

. Yes that is Lavender Mist. I love it. In fact I have added about a dozen Caron colors to my wish list. but plan on being somewhat good and waiting until I either know 1) what I would want to stitch with them or 2) I can't stand waiting anymore. When I finish these "rounds", I think I will be able to tackle the afghan that I wanted to do when I first saw your designs. But I think I'll have to stick the more sturdy DMC perles for that.

My apologies to Miss Laverne for mistaking her for two cats

-- I should have said "helper".
Yes, I think that if your afghan is going to have a lot of use and washing, standard perles are probably a better idea. Shame, isn't it

?
If you do want to buy Caron in quantity, I can recommend Margaret at Little Thread Shop -- great prices, very helpful (her eBay shop is
here or you can email her direct; om me if you haven't got her email address and would like it).
She does Dinky Dyes and Gloriana too. Just sayin'
