Started in the middle and trying to work my way up to the top, I like to stitch top down, but it's harder to count up on evenweave, so am making my way up by stitching the middle bit. I haven't got a photo yet, as Steve has the card reader at work with him and I forgot to get him to upload pictures. Tonight I'll do it, then you can see what I mean

Are you beading as you go along? I haven't made my mind up yet, have put in some of the metallic thread, much easier to work with than any other metallic thread I've used. Hope to do more this afternoon.

In the meantime, I've uploaded three pictures to my gallery of my stiching, to give an idea of what I do

Lovely detail on the designs, Carol!

When I do a project with beads I tend to do them right at the end, unless the projects is mostly beads (like a sort of snowflake I did once) in which case I do them as I go along. I find that you can catch on the beads if you do them and then still have a lot of cross stitch to do.

Good luck with the beads and metallics -- glad they're being so well-behaved

Hi can i ask what sort of material are you stitching on as it looks very very small stitches whicg give lots of detaio but i dont think i would be able to see it very well let alone have the patience. thanks nsue xx

Hi Sue

It's 32 count evenweave, and yes very small!! I've found I have to use one of those magnifiers that hang around the neck - another sign of getting old I guess.

Great start, Carol Ann - it's going to be lovely.

I use a neck magnifier too - for everything, even 14ct!
It just makes stitching so much easier. I certainly couldn't stitch on 32ct without it.

I just came across an ad in an old magazine which had Celtic Autumn and Celtic Summer, but with changed colours "to be more applicable to the UK". I can't see an awful lot of difference with the Celtic Summer that you see everywhere, but the Autumn design is very different, being in shades of green and rust (well, you know, browny orangy shades). Has anyone ever stitched one of these "changed" designs? Does anyone know more about them? I looked up the website that was mentioned but they had the Celtic Autumn that you are doing here, not the green/rust version.

Funnily enough, I was also trying to find the reference to the 'changed colours'. But can't find anything. Maybe try the company?
