Thanks for all the lovely comments. I even managed to do 2 French knots in the eyes.
I decided after doing this I wasn't going to do any more patterns that require backstitch but I have bought a buddha kit to do for my mum and it has a lot of backstitching. After it's done definitely no more backstitching for me!
