Wow, you're making really good progress on this. I an eager to see a lot more of Gryff.

Fantastic start on this!!

Back onto Gryff after packing up Luz for this month, This is the progress I made with him in the last week of February:

His tail is starting to appear in startling bright shades of orange:

It will be nice to feel as if I'm making progress for a change. At least something recognisable is already appearing.

Thanks for all your comments. This one seems to be powering ahead compared to the Luis Royo 'Luz', and I think it's mostly because the main part of the picture is already visible.

Being able to see the main picture is always fun and motivating. He's going to be fantastic.

I thought I ought to do a bit of an update.

I'm now firmly below the centreline, working on page 12 of the chart:

And here is the progress to date:

I have a confession to make. My finger slipped on the chart key when getting the threads for the bright orange part of Gryff's tail visible in the last update photo. It shouldn't have been bright orange at all, and I had to unpick all 130 odd stitches made with the single bright orange pair. Unpicking that lot took a complete evening as the thread tails were all covered over by then, and with 28ct tent stitches it's almost impossible to cut the threads on the front side of the fabric. Anyway, it looks right now.

Must admit I am pleased with the way it's coming out, and in 4 years time will be really pleased with it...

Wow have been waiting for another update on this. It is very finely stitched & love the colouring Richard. A superb piece of cross stitching as always. Look forward to next update so see what appears. You have done very well on this.

It looks like you managed to unpick without damaging other stitches which I find is the hard part. When I look back at the previous picture I think that bright orange was causing everything to look too dark, now it looks like a close match to the image.

Could well have been that, the other possibility is that my camera was confused by the relatively small area of colour on a white background in the last photo. With it being a moderately old camera, it's one that can't cope as well as more modern ones with something that isn't a standard 'happy snap'. The camera is a Samsung NV9 from 2009, and technology has moved on a long way since.

Beautiful update---too bad about having to the orange but so well worth your diligence in doing so!! It looks amazing!!!
