A bit of an hiatus, as the
decided to pay me a visit. I had enlarged and photocopied the chart in
I, of course, stitched all the squares of the Angel's wing as back squares until I realized that they actually were red squares, so they should have been stitched in another colour.
Well, my stitching is well anchored, I discovered. It was not fun to un-stitch without doing any damage to the fabric or other stitches.
I am now back on track...

and was happily stitching away. There are 2 symbols shaped like a square : one red and one black. Now you can guess what happened...black and white

Oh how infuriating! Well done you for getting all your well-anchored stitches out without damaging the fabric - and not that
is out of the way, onwards an upwards!

Yes I got caught on that one a time or two as well. Lavender and Lace charts are lovely and easy to read BUT she uses the same symbols only different colours at times.
So glad you have successfully sorted it out and now have a coloured enlargement to stitch from. It is now a time of 'full steam ahead' for you to get on with the wings and then the rest of her.

Well done Héléne on finding the mistake and managing to remove it without distorting the fabric - that is a feat in itself.
It can be infuriating when designers do that, I have not seen a L&L chart so didn't know they do that, the thing that drives me up the wall is when several shades of backstitch are required and handdrawn black lines of various thicknessess are used.
I hope Angel gives you no more

I agree that similar symbols are one of the most annoying things that some chart designers are guilty of. Same symbol but different size is my pet peeve. Hope you don't run into any more and that all
stay away from now on.
Good for you to not damage the fabric.

Thank you for the encouragements
I am back on track and this is my first update after the
visited me.
I will stitch one of her hand very soon. One puzzling thing is :
The face of the Angel is stitched with one strand, full cross over one square ( on evenweave) BUT her hand is stitched as normal ( over 2 threads)
It is tempting to stitch her hands with one strand, 1 full cross over one square, like her face. What do you think?
Thank you for looking.

A lovely update Helene and it is good that you are now back on track.
I am almost sure I stitched her hands in 1 strand too.

Lovely update Héléne, you are making great progress withthis beautiful design.
I think if I remember correctly, Sally did stitch the face and hands 1 over 1, hang on,
later - I had a look at the email and picture (from August 2015) on a different hard-drive and yes Sally did stitch Angel's face and hands 1 over 1, hope this helps. I think it will be worth it, it is such a beautiful design.

Thank you for your kind comments
Garnet, how kind of you to spend time to research Sally's posts and confirm that the hands of the Angel is stitched 1x1. It is really helpful.

It would have been far quicker to have used the search function on the forum. I will try to remember about that. I had searched my emails and photos Sally had sent me. I'm glad it helped

Re: Hélène's Angel Of The Morning 18/05/18
What a beautiful update and yes I too think it will be very worth stitching the hands 1 over 1 as well.

I am now concentrating on this project. I stitched one hand + a bit of her face 1 over 1 ( much easier in this bright sunshine!) and some of the yoke, which is full of confetti. I am so glad that I gridded the evenweave. It is so useful with finding my bearing with the single stitches.
Thanks for looking

Oh Helene you have made wonderful progress sitting out in the sunshine. I love your 1 over 1 stitching too, so neat and even. Yes that Yoke is confettivile for sure but worth it in the end.
A fabulous update

Well done Helene. You are making great progress, the one over one will definitely be worth it, you can already tell how delicate those parts will be.
Well done for stitching in the heat too ( or maybe you are cooler where you are)
Your stitches are so lovely and neat and even.
Beautiful update.

Very well done, what a nice update!
I see there is indeed a lot of confetti but you seem to be coping really well with it. Your stitches are so neat I just love looking at them!

Thank you for your very kind words
It does spur me on.
I am really taking is slowly stitching the confetti, as I do not want to make a mistake. I triple check!

I must admit to feel really tired today in the heat. We are not used to it, are we Maureen? I hope that it is is cooling down a bit at night, at least where you are.Garnet wrote:Well done for stitching in the heat too ( or maybe you are cooler where you are)
Thank you, it is kind of you to say I just admired you finished Porch, Sina, and your stitches are just as neat.sina28 wrote:I see there is indeed a lot of confetti but you seem to be coping really well with it. Your stitches are so neat I just love looking at them!
