Oh, I think we can settle on Christmas, now that it's September. Or else we'll all drown in acronyms that we (or at least I) cannot keep straight, and we can't have THAT.

The Santas are so cute with that grumpy look on their faces.
Well done one that start, I too love 16 ct or 32 ct, it's just the right size of fabric count for me. 18ct is quite tiny and difficult to get nice, even crosses.

Sina it was the grumpiness of the Santas that appealed to me (I must have a weird sense of humour) I have never been tempted to stitch a Santa before but I do love these. I am definitely only stitching the one though.

I do prefer 16 count to any other, the coverage is much better than on 14 count for me and it's not as hard on my eyes as 18 count and you are right the stitches do lie in a neater way. It's a pity Wrendales are on 14 count, they seem huge when I stitch one.

Love those Santas and the Owl is wonderful!!

I think the C word is fine for crafters to use it starting in September because we do have to have an early start to make all the lovely ornaments, cards and gifts in time. Plus its a lot easier to type Christmas or Xmas than the acronyms. We can save those for January!

The Santas are from Donna Kooler's Seasons in Cross Stitch book.

The Owl is from sewandso's own brand 3 piece kit - can't remember off the top of my head what else is in the kit, but I will be ditching the fabric and cutting some of my own 14 count (it fits the cards better) to stitch the rest.

Maureen, thank you for the picture and information on the Santas. I wondered why they looked familiar. Then I realized I have Donna's book in my bookcase too! I think I will start on one for our tree.I usually stitch ornaments on plastic canvas, so they are flat. I like your idea of stuffing him. Never did it before. Wish me good luck with my first experiment with 3 D project.

Lyudmila didn't you stitch the cats in the bookcase too?

There are instructions for how to make them up in the book, I am adding a weight to mine so he will stand up better, but if you are going to put him on your tree I would suggest leaving the weight out.

I did stitch the cats- twice at that! This shows how attentive I am. I have not decided which Santa to stitch, perhaps the smallest as I will be stitching on the 14 count. Will give them all a closer look tomorrow.

Just a small update as having problems with eyes.

He's now looking out at you and so far he doesn't look grumpy (yet) and he has a tree but no hand to hold it

Oh my, what wonderful things you have stitched.

I have Christmas ornaments, Dimensions, not done yet but as aid in previous post I found a 'heap of snowmen' chart & they all have smiley faces. Will do that in rotation with the flower sampler. Not sure if all are snowmen, maybe a snow woman too so will just call them snow people when I start stitching that.

He is so detailed, I am sure he would take me forever to stitch what you have done already. So far he is quite friendly, but in the book they all look really like very serious teachers. mine as well before Christmas is here.

Mabel I think it's more that he doesn't have a smiley mouth and his moustache turns downwards that makes him look grumpy, and yes he will also have eyebrows.

Now I come to think of it, if his moustache turned upwards would that make him a Hipster Santa?
