Sorry to read that you are having a bit of a fraying problem with the threads, Carole. Do they state which make they are? If you like the designs, may be swapping the thread with the DMC equivalent might be an option, next time.
Great update, 3 hands in view!

I'm sorry the threads are being a pain - perhaps if you like similar designs you may be able to get them as chart-only and choose your own threads?
Fortunately this one is looking beautiful in spite of the threads!

Thank you both for your comments. I already tried to get the DMC number equivalents, but they won't give them out because they are concerned about people then being able to post the charts and key on line, which is understandable. The reason I was considering some others is because this is a fairly small piece and thought if I had one or two others that were similar I could have them framed together. Still might try, because I'm sure I've seen similar ones on other websites, though I don't know if they were also Vervaco kits. The chart says that the threads are DMC so I might try to see if I can figure it out myself. Will let you all know.

Hate it when threads supplied aren't good quality!
Despite your difficulties...You
Are making fantastic progress!

This is looking terribly impressive -- the over 1 does make such a difference, even if the thread is being a pest. (Makes me wonder how old the thread is... and how it's been stored since it was kitted up.)
If you really want to find out the thread numbers, send me swatches: I have a full DMC colour card constructed with thread, not photos. I'd be glad to do that for you.

Thank you Sally and Serinde. I also have the DMC swatch key and forgot I did. I think you are probably right, Serinde, that the threads may not have either been stored properly or maybe are just older. I'm sure that Vervaco would not print that they use DMC threads if they aren't. I just started using shorter lengths of thread and that has helped a lot.
I am really trying to finish this so I can return to a more colorful pattern.

Another weekly update and the baby's hand is almost complete. Hoping to have it finished soon. And thinking of doing another one of theirs. Actually there are two and I think the three together would look so beautiful.
Thanks for looking. Keeps me motivated!

Looking absolutely gorgeous. I agree the other 2 similar charts together with that would make a awesome trio.

A great update, Carole!
As for the threads, I think some colours "eat" the thread and it feels dry and somewhat frays, especially after long sitting in the storage. Have been there, have seen that, cant remember the numbers, but they were from my storage box with greys. The design is worth all your patience and hard work on it. Happy stitching!

Thank you all for your encouraging comments. I am hoping to have time enough this week to come close to or actually finish it. Mostly because I caved and got 2 of the other kits. And it seems like shortening the threads a little has helped with the fraying problem. Since I'm only using 1 strand I have plenty of extra thread if I need it. Pics of those are in
Deliveries and Stash Acquisitions.
This week's update:
Thanks for looking!
