Third piece done - the foursided stitch looks nice, but is a nightmare to unpick if things go wrong,(as they did!! ) and the red back/running stitched patterns were quite hard to follow. However, job done, eventually.
The next piece looks even more of a challenge, practically all of it in one strand over one thread, so the magnifying lamp will be essential.

Part 4. Changed from B.M.'s design as I didn't care for her lettering, and the lower patterns changed to suit.
I've been keeping a check of time spent on this project and so far it's 112 hours, so I reckon the whole thing, with the accoutrements for scissors, thimbles, pins, etc will be in the region of 300 hours.

Thank you. I'm just waiting to see your version, with the real silks etc - I'm sure you'll leave me standing. :)

I like the way in which you are taking this and making it your own, making it the way you like it! Can't wait to see what you'll do with the SAL tree when you get round to that - I probably won't recognise it :-)

You have made good progress and of course No 2 is beautifully stitched as well. This is an interesting project to watch growing :)

Well , I've been working on the construction today - as expected, not easy joining the 4 sides together with the gold silk lining. The lid will be a major challenge. Need to titivate the sides then maybe another pic, if it's not too horrendous...

I agree. This is what stitching is about - stitching what we love and changing personalizing as we choose.
