The confetti in the eagle's feathers must be quite difficult.

Indeed!! and to top it off I have to be frugal with the thread--the designer makes her kits using DMC threads, but refuses to give the #s that are used and won't replenish any that may run short. I am finding that I may run out on a couple and I am stitching on 36 count linen versus the 14 count aida provided in the kit!! I will manage though

Thanks to all for the feedback, should have another update in a few days!!

A free advice for such cases. As I stitch in 3 strands on 14 count Aida, while most kits in the world are meant for those stitching in 2 strands on 16ct, I cant rely on the threads they put into the kit. SO, the moment I open the kit, I take out all my DMC threads(8 thread storage boxes sorted by colours) [my friend in such cases takes the organizer from the kit to the nearest thread shop which sells DMC] and find out easilly what numbers are on the organizer(in the kit). Next step- I write the numbers next to threads on the organizer. The last step- winding up the few threads they put on the organizer onto my own bobbins with corresponding numbers and then stitch using them. If I still have not enough thhreads at home, I order them on Day1 of my work on the project. Sounds like additional work, but in fact it saves a lot of nervous energy.

Good advice Lyudmila. I usually do try to make sure I have enough on hand in my stash, but neglected to do that before I started this project. So far I am doing okay, but a few of the threads will be close!!

Here is my update--it finally feels like I have made some decent progress

The lower right corner is now done, and I'm working my way across the bottom going left :)

He is magnificent!! I have stitched the bald eagle several times and the nuances of the shading can be a real challenge. You are doing a great job and he is truly majestic!
