That's very interesting.
Always surprises me just how many different disciplines there are for stitching!
I like the indigo fabrics too, maybe the stripes would work with this?
That's the only striped piece I have... and I'm not sure I could get it to stretch. The situation isn't helped by the pattern not being originally centred in the fabric when drawn out -- but that's a very, very minor point given how excellent the class was.
Dr Hare is splendid. You have to cut it out of the felt in the kit. It's easy enough, as you have the templates, and her instructions are pretty clear. Then you have to decide how to stitch the rest... it's not an iron-on transfer like Nancy Nicholson designs (also worth looking at, btw).

Just a little something to keep our spirits up. My embroidery isn't great, but just fine for this sort of "folky" thing. It's a Nancy Nicholson design. Two more to do.

If they are a particular style, they would be described as folk art, I suppose. (A back-handed compliment if ever there was one, as most "folk art" is exquisite). These -- the colours in particular -- hark back to the 1960s and '70s, I suppose, so are pretty retro at this point. You can find them here.
Felt is wonderful for stitching on, though. Very forgiving, and easy to finish.
