Well, rest assured the Post Office made up for it recently. A letter posted in August 1916 was delivered in February this year to the correct address (https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/i-was-sh ... ury-later/).

Yes, I believe they think it got lost in the sorting office and then when that was closed down or demolished it was found and sent after all - quite a story

I went to the SEC craft and quilting show for the first time in ages on Thursday. Why should I resist dragons? And I found some excellent beads to use for a seascape workshop I attended... some years ago... And that random ball of fibre is for adding to weaving bundles for my peg loom. The tube of beads aren't gold -- they're "toffee", and this pic doesn't do them justice At All. So, all in a good cause, right?

They are rather cute. Be fun making them. If (unlike me) you can sew with a sharp needle & not spot the fabric with blood.

Having watched 'How to train your Dragon' over the weekend it might be interesting to come up with new, wilder, variations too to make with the extra felt sheets you got.. Maybe.

Certainly the light green dragon is going to be an experiment. I plan to encrust his "underside" entirely with beads -- he must have been laying on his hoard, after all. Also might add some stitching to his wings... tivvy him up a bit. But which way to put his pupil if I don't use a round bead... horizontal or vertical?

I tend to think vertical can be cute (cats), horizontal is always evil (goats).

Silly story - at our farm, Christmas Day '86 while we were eating Christmas lunch we noticed our two dogs that had been in the front yard shoot in through the dog flap in the back door at high speed. Then a few seconds later they were followed by a very pregnant goat, also at high speed. The goat got its head, shoulders and front legs through the dog flap and then got stuck because it was far too wide to get through the dog flap. It then started to panic and looked like it was going to damage the back door, kicking, hollering and head-butting the door. We stopped our meal and ran to rescue the goat, and found that goats don't have a reverse gear, especially not when panicking. It ended up with three men pulling (my dad, brother & I) and one lady (my mum) pushing to reverse the goat out of the dog flap. We then took it to its owners 200 yards away who were unaware even that their pet goat was missing. By the time we got back to our Christmas meal it was rather cold.

It would have been tempting, no doubt, to replace the cold meal with roast goat

Not too sure about that. It's quite a strong tasting meat I'm told.

We did have our own beef for many years, but slaughtering on the farm became impossible under EU regulations in '88, maybe '89. Was a shame because the transport and slaughter conditions in an industrial slaughter house were much more terrifying for an animal reared in grass/silage/hay regime on the farm it was born on.

Picked up my order from Michaels. The red is the wrong colour. Fortunately, I held off ordering the threads they didn’t have and was able to add DMC 304 to my order at stitchitcentral. That order is due in this week.
