Re: 2025 Stash & Grab Virtual Pub
Gaah!
But at least something is happening. Sounds unfair that your son's claim has to go through the car company. However, he may be able to avoid a drop in his no-claims bonus if he argues with the company.
It's a good thing suitable ridge tiles are available.
The concrete replacement tile roof on our house is out of production & unavailable - we have a few spares but no ridge tiles. Must admit I'd love to turn it back to slates. Much lighter, easier to obtain in the long term and looks right on a Victorian house, especially with terra cotta ridge tiles too.
Regards,
Richard

All for that, Mabel! I can't praise our roofer and his two apprentices enough. Boy, did they work hard, and the results are both beautiful (yes, believe me, this ridge is a thing of beauty) and reassuring (it's not going anywhere soon -- those nails mean business). And a new chimney pot! Woo hoo! Alas, we can no longer put off re-slating the "little roof" -- the falling pots showed exactly how fragile it is (100+ years) and there are suspicious signs of damp, so it has to go. But what are rainy day savings for except for use on rainy days? Deep breath!
But I'll have my usual bar keep!

Family crisis + magazine deadline = strong desire for a hot chocolate or mulled wine

OR BOTH?
Magazine deadline is a thing. Family more important.

Both is good.
Yes, I know it is; and I've written to the editor to explain. I'll probably still meet the deadline, just not with as much time to spare as they generally like, and as I had initially promised.
The family matter will probably take longer to resolve, and involves the grandchildren. Those of you of a praying disposition, I would appreciate it!

Re: 2025 Stash & Grab Virtual Pub
I have never understood the desire to have marsh mellons (as Spock would say) in hot chocolate. Or anything else, for that matter. They're OK on their own, but in something? Just ends up with sticky fluff that mostly forms a ring around one's mouth & rarely gets in. And I spend ages washing it out of my mustache.
Or is that just me?
Regards,
Richard

Well, the moustache bit probably is, on here
I tend to use mini marshmallows and eat the off the top with a teaspoon while half-melted (gooey on the bottom but still holding their shape) rather than drink "through" them, which is indeed a messy business!
