About 16" wide by nearly 9" tall. I think. Can't be sure because the fabric I bought is MUCH bigger!!!!! And I don't remember if that was the size Mr XStitch said to get, or if it was what I decided to buy... I'm going to see if I can find what he said in pm and old posts...

Ah! Got it! It IS 16" wide, on 24ct fabric, which is the fabric I bought. I think you have to allow about 5" all round, so if I cut a piece 21" x 14" I should be safe enough... no, that's not right... 26" x 19"... yes? Five inches on each side! Whew! Nearly got it wrong!

I shall iron anc cut tomorrow, and sort threads and mark with pattern symbols. Might be able to start stitching Thursday... I wonder if I should grid...?
I've also bought a few stitchbows and some plastic bobbins, so I can experiment to find if either suits me. I usually use little plastic bags and ice cube trays...

Thanks, everyone! I hope it will be good!

K'n yer guess what it is yet...?

You know, I should have realised, seeing that the fabric is 24ct, that the design was charted to be stitched over 1. But I didn't - so it was a bit of a shock! Anyway, good practice for when I do my HAEDs...
I started stitching 2 over one, which gave good coverage, but I began to feel it would end up too thick and difficult to stitch, so I frogged, and am now stitching 1 over 1. Not such good coverage, but easier to do. I've never done anything over 1 before.

One thing - black really shows up bits of fluff and cat fur and dust! Plus, not only do I have to have a white bit of sheet on my lap, but a light shining on it as well, or I can't see the holes. I shall only be stitching this in the daytime. My elephant get's the evening stint. :)

Erm... No! I use a magnifier lamp! And I have another little lamp underneath, shining on the white sheet on my lap so I can see the holes!

Don't the colours look gorgeous! I know one over one gives a little less coverage, but really there sees to be quite enough coverage in the pic, and comfort in stitching is worth a lot too!
