Wow this is amazing! Such vibrant colours. I love the idea of the phoenix fairy, with the fire and the wings, and reds and oranges and yellows. You made great progress with it already, I can't wait to see more and more of her revealed. :applesauce:

What a lovely bright design! How big is it? (In stitches, I mean)

Hi
Yes I think the colours are beautiful. It's funny because when the kit arrived to be done I was really disappointed because all the threads in the bag looked overpowering and didn't look lovely and subtle like the other HAED I've done, but now its growing I love it.

The design is 400x562 stitches which makes 224800. That's scary!
Although I do this as a job it is not a job in a real sense. I look at it more as doing my hobby and someone providing the kit and a small reward at the end! For example I shall get about £150 for doing this but it will have taken me a long time. BUT I do realize I am lucky. I started working for a magazine about 15 years ago and since then have done models for cross stitch firms, which is what this one is for, and I have also done test stitching for designers. It is really a case of writing to loads of people asking if they need stitchers.

I get lots of sewing time at the moment because I am unemployed but am desperately looking for a job. I'd love to have one like some of you where I can take my sewing to work :D but looks like I can't be choosey at the moment.

Hopefully post another picture tomorrow.
Liz

What a wonderful WIP (but how scary to have someone waiting for you to finish a HAED - that is really brave!). Do please keep us updated on this one and could we see the HAED you've finished

It must be wonderful to have it as a 'job' but also a bit scary to get it right and not be late with it etc. I admire you for doing it and I hope this one goes really well for you.
Looking forward to updates soon.

It's all going ok but am desperately trying to get the page that I'm on finished before next photo.
It was nice surprise to work out that where I thought I was nearly half way through I am actually well over that as I have only two more strips of pages + 10 stitches to do. SO only another few months!

My partner has now gone back to sea to finish training to be a commercial yacht skipper so will probably not see him for 2 months. But good news is more time for stitching AND he left the camera at home so I can keep posting.

And stitching is going to help you keep your mind off partner's absence, too -- isn't our hobby useful :-)?

Ok so here it is with the next page done.
Image

That's 18 pages done and 12 full pages with 6 tiny ones left to do. That change in the colour half way down is what the website has done not real life!
