You might do all the work and she gets the result, but I'm betting you'll get more pleasure from making it and seeing her joy than making it and hanging on your own wall.
I love winding bobbins but mine are far from as neat as Mabel's. But they do fine for me.
I really like this picture but am not putting any more on my 'want to do' list right now.!!
Cross stitch not expensive?? Try telling that to my husband.

bit of both she knows i`am doing a x stitch for her but not which one.
she thinks its a small piece.
got a fair few threads to winded on get inpatince want to start stitching

And although the amount spent on stash may look humongous when you tot it all up, most of us have probably got enough to keep us going well into retirement and beyond

!
(Not that that stops us from getting more stash, of course...)
