Thanks everyone! I am going to use the waste knot method and I have been practicing it on my 16 count project I am doing now, so hopefully I will be a pro by the time I get to my 25 count evenweave. I just love the things I have learned from this forum! :applesauce: I was using a little piece of masking tape to secure the end of the floss so I could stitch over it. I was flipping my frame over a lot and it was just a pain in the butt.

I found this site....I know I know....you are NEVER supposed to KNOT your fabric...but i think you could do it like a waste knot...come up away and then cut the knot of later....love the ease of tying this knot...

I always make a knot like that, my mother taught me -- I hadn't realised it was unusual until I did the stitching course and a few other stitching things with pople and they didn't know this method. Is it not very well known in England?

Edited
well, slightly differently from her method, I don't "aim" thread and needle at each other, I put the end of the thread near the eye of my needle at right angles, anchor it with the thumb that's holding the needle, then wrap round and slide down

I think she said that just so people didn't hold the end of the thread to the end of the needle...trying to make sure people put the end of the thread at the eye of the neeedle...see its just easier to say aim your thread at your needle hahahahaha
