Jen, the puppies are so adorable. I was thinking that the sign and words could maybe be done in shades of dark brown? I'm not sure.

I think it will be ok... maybe you could put a blue ball or dish near the puppies so the colors can tie together?

or that same blue under the puppies like they are on a platform that matches the awl colors?

Thanks for your great ideas everyone!
I want to keep the logo those colours because they are the AWL colours, but I like your idea pamelam of doing it in shades of brown. Perhaps something to try next time.
Faith and maemae I really like both your ideas and can't seem to choose. I can't really show you and get you guys to help decide because I made copies of the puppies so I could draw on them, but I can' post them because the puppies are not my chart. I charted a simple purple/blue dish and a multi-colour ball and also a platform which I altered into a shades of purple blanket which looks quite neat.
What I think I will do is complete my original plan with the logo and slogan and then decide what to do about the ball and dish/blanket dilemma.
Thanks for the encouragement, I'm off to stitch

I was hoping to have finished this by now because in the coming weeks I am terribly busy and don't know if I'll find the time to stitch. Maybe I'll just give up some sleep
Here is my progress anyway. It is coming along nicely. I just have to finish the "W", the second purple part and then do the slogan and possibly backstitching around the logo. I am undecided on what, if anything, to put with/underneath the puppies. I think waiting until the end will help me decide.

AWL Project stitching finished

Hi everyone.
I finished stitching the Animal Welfare League project I have been working on and washed it today to get rid of the grid marks. This is it:
I'll take better photos in natural light tomorrow. The word "brighter" looks really nice in person because it stands out a touch as I mixed 1 x metallic thread and 1 x normal thread to make it bright
I don't know whether to backstitch around the slogan "Embracing a brighter future". I quite like the look of it without, but the puppies have backstitching so I don't know. I guess the backstitch on the puppies were to add detail that wasn't there without stitching but the logo and slogan have the detail there already.
I am also considering a simple border, but if it is getting framed I don't know if it will need it.
I am also not sure if I should go with a blanket underneath the dogs. I am liking it as it is, not too cluttered and with more focus on the logo.
What do you think? I think designing your own project when you are brand new to a craft is a little loopy.
I am going to go to a few local framers to see if any will donate their services or at least give me a discount seeing as I am giving it to the AWL.
My next cross stitch project is the two lillies, but I am busy busy busy until June so I don't know how much I will get done. I also want to make some dog coats before winter to give to the AWL as well, so that will take away stitching time. Maybe I can just give up something else... what about sleeping? lol

I think it looks lovely as it is and as you say, the frame will act as the border. As the logo is quite bold, I don't think you'd need to do anymore in my opinion. Keep it simple.
