debupnorth, the gnat catcher, as well as the tufted titmouse on my afghan are designs from Crossed Wing Coolection Little Leaguers No. 12 booklet. I hope that helps, There are a total of 5 wee birds in this one, which also includes a Verdin, a White Breasted Nuthatch and a Red Breasted Nuthatch

The tenth bird is now finished--which means I've now finished 1/2 of the squares!! This one is a Parula, which is quite a small little bird. We have quite a few of these in our area and often see them frequent our bird baths.

This is the last one I'm going to stitch for a while, that is for a few days, as I'll be working on page 2 of the HAED sal.

:applesauce: :applesauce: Congrats on getting to the half way point. The Parula is just gorgeous. They are beautiful little things and I wish they'd come to my backyard, but usually only see them in the forests or parks around here. How lucky you are to have them at your birdbath.

Thanks for the very nice feedback on this project. I really am enjoying stitching it up. All of the birds on this project are definitely ones that I have seen in Florida and most of them actually do make appearances in my backyard. The parula is one of my favorites and we see them almost every day. They love playing in the tree tops most of the time but they do come down and fuss or fight over the bird baths almost every day. Here is a picture of one that had just taken a small dip in one of the birdbaths and was drying off

Beautiful photo, Karen. That would make a lovely cross stitch all by itself!

Adorable little bird you've stitched up for the 10th square!! I have not heard of this one...guess we don't have them in Colorado ( probably too cold)! Can't wait to see what's next when you get around to it

It's wonderful!! I'm fascinated with all the different types of bird that we don't know here in the UK. Can we have a shot of the whole afghan sometime? Pretty please :)

Niki, since you asked, I've taken a picture of the afghan as it looks, it will be even larger than this but I couldn't manage to get the whole thing in a picture!!

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: Beautiful. I love how you have found designs with each bird on a twig or branch. Colorful and lovely. I finally figured out that laying the afghan on the floor is the easiest way to get a whole afghan picture. Its like trying to figure out how to photograph a mural on a huge wall

Thanks Carole, and next time I will try the photo that way---I took this one on top of our bed, but ended up having to stand on the end of the bed to get that photo--the afghan is a decent sized one to say the least. There are 5 rows of 4 squares plus the edging.
As for finding the designs with branches, that definitely has been the plan, and not always easy to find exactly what I am looking for--there will be an exception, when I do the ruby throated humming bird, it will not be sitting on a branch

So beautiful. :applesauce:
I would be afraid to use this after it is done. I have visions of a slop of tea or wine ruining it.
It's so nice to learn of the lovely birds that live in your area as well.
Thank you for sharing.
Cheers :wine:
