Thanks everyone for all your lovely comments.

I've not got much stitching done in almost a month since I last updated but Squirrel was finished. The thread was absolutely awful, but he is so cute, I will colour match the threads and use DMC for the other kits I was given.

Image

I always need to have a large project on the go so I can pick up and stitch when I need to and I think sticking to only Wrendales was not helping me, as for me they only take between 4-6 weeks and then I have to go through the whole decision making process again, and that's where I got stuck. I hope that makes sense, it does to me.

So I decided to begin this as I've had this one in my stash for a while now

Image

and this is the last photo I took, I've done a bit more since but haven't got a photo yet

Image

As you can see I began in the top left and I'm concentrating on the stonework first, my reasoning is that as I get bored of all the beiges my mind will naturally wander towards which Wrendale I would like to stitch and I may be able to stitch both, I haven't got on too well with trying rotations in the past, hopefully this will work without stressing me out too much.

What a great design!! I know what you mean about all those beige shades! My intention is to get the boring bits done first and leave the more interesting colours to later.
Doesn't always work!! Several designs have been found lurking in the back of the UFO box!!

We shall cheer you on with this...I find that always helps! :D

Your Squirrel is truly gorgeous Maureen and I love it.

Wuthering Heights stitchery is going to be fabulous when it is done and a great idea to get the boring non-colour done early in the piece so you can enjoy the rest.

A fabulous update for sure.

Thank you lovelies for all your kind words, they do mean ever such a lot to me.

Dammit though I thought I had taken a photo of all this area of stitching before I put the backstitch on, as you know I am fond of the before and after backstitch "pop" photos, but I can't find it, dammit, so here is this corner with backstitch, I'm pleased with my prgress so far, and as yet I haven't been craving colour.....yet :)

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: Beautiful!!! I love before and after back stitch pictures. When stitching flowers or birds or other animals I would always ask my husband to identify the subject before I did the back stitching. and then afterwards. Depending on the detail of the design he sometimes had to wait for the bs to be done. And he pretty knowledgable about plants and animals, especially birds. I think that is why I never mind the back stitching on a project.

Thank you everyone for the lovely replies, it means a lot to me.

Carole - I was really annoyed at myself for not having a full before and after backstitch photo, I really like the way backstitch makes a design come alive ( I also love designs that don't need backstitch ) the only kind I don't like is the "sketchy" kind or the kind that goes through the centre of a stitch, I always go to the next place and take the needle back down through the centre of a stitch rather than come up.

I will make sure I take a photo in the next few days of the before backstitch on the top right of the stonework.

Hmmm, so far my plan hasn't worked, I haven't yet got bored of all the beiges, so I am no further on in deciding which Wrendale to stitch next, although our lovely Nicola has thrown me with the news that the three sleepy fox cubs will be coming out in the full size version.

Ah well, as long as I have a needle in my hand and fabric to work on I am happy.

Oh something to plan towards - those little fox cubs are gorgeous. Anyone got any time to spare that they could lend me?
