Re: Sarah's Chinese Dragon - gone to framers!

Post by Sarah Gixxer »

It's done! We went to see my parents yesterday and my Mum always gives us loads of stuff to bring home, so it was easy to conceal it in a bag of magazines and other bits and pieces she had for me as the frame for this is not huge - I think it's about 10 x 15 inches or something like that. I'm well pleased - the framer picked out the colours from the stitched border for the frame and I said not to bother with a mount as my own border was enough.

I had to take the photo in my yard as I couldn't get a good one without the flash spoiling it.

Thank you, everyone.

Well, I managed to smuggle him into the closet at home where I keep all the Christmas decorations and the hoover and stuff like that, until OH left this morning and he wasn't discovered. I'll get him wrapped up and hide him again until Christmas.

Louise, our goodies this weekend included a box full of ginger cake my Mum had baked, a Wan Chai kit for making chicken kung pao, some magazines, some cucumbers (Mum grows them), a bag of apples (off their apple tree) and a box of fresh figs. Yummy!

Plus I got a huge surprise - it's my birthday in 2 weeks and I know parents have framed my Magpie cross stitch for me, but Dad said that is actually a present from Mum and would I like him to buy me a washing machine since my old one is kaput? You'll understand this is fairly astonishing when I add that Dad has always been a bit of a tight-wad and usually gets you a CD or something of equal value for a gift, both birthday and Christmas.

In addition, Dad has given OH a laptop! Dad bought this 18 months ago and it went wrong, he paid a complete "muppet" who supposedly knows about computers to try and fix it and said "muppet" made things worse. Dad was about to chuck laptop in the skip and has bought a new computer, but then thought OH might like said laptop for "spares" or something as OH is also a bit of a computer whiz. OH has looked at laptop and discovered all it needs is a recovery disk and it will be as good as new! Dad still says he can keep it though. Blimey!!!!!! Dad has vowed to call OH for future computer problems, instead of throwing money at "muppet". OH promises to fix computer in exchange for a box of my Mum's ginger cake!
