That is very beautiful, Mabel! That would be a wonder Christmas card, but I can see what you mean about being labor-intensive. XD

I just finished on of these myself and like you I found they took much longer then I would have thought. I was also surprised at the size of the design. Your work it very pretty!!!!!

Thanks all! Here's another one, I've finished the first of the tulips -- this one is on black Quaker cloth, using Chameleon Threads Shades of Africa silk, and Petite Treasure Braid 03. I finished it today at the stitching group, and found I'd left my treasure braid home

But I did have my Madeira no.40 with me, and doubled up that was practically indistinguishable *phew* -- can you tell which is which

?

I can't tell the difference at all - good job!

The tulip looks striking against the black.

I'm always happy to see more of your exquisite work, Mabel. Keep it coming. I no longer even think which is my favourite - I just enjoy them all.

This is my last update before going off to Holland -- the Folk Sampler. I'm adding the greens at the moment, and those very dark green curves near the bottom will be pieces of watermelon; not something I'd seen on a sampler before

.
The top and bottom are a bit distorted, that's because the snaps on my snap frame aren't as long as I might wish, so tension towards the corners is rather slacker. But I'm sure it'll come out in the wash

.
In Holland, if I do any stitching at all, I'll be working on my handbag project -- I always carry something around with me to do in waiting rooms or on journeys -- which is a different version of the tulips: on 18ct aida, using DMC floche, and with the outline in black instead of gold so it looks like stained glass. I hope I'll have finished one when I get back!
