Ever get a song stuck in your head - recently mine's been "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen which is really appropriate as I finished another page!
68,607 stitches complete (56.45%) and only 9673 stitches until I complete this row of pages!

"The world, as a colourful knot of threads, has turned into a memory, and now you cannot be sure whether it was real." (Géza Ottlik, Hungarian writer)
So no new piccies this post but I just had to share:
I find in a design there are obvious milestones - the end of pages, rows finished, 25% complete etc and then there are just some numbers that scream milestone like less than 100,000 stitches left (even if you've only done 21,540 stitches). Well last night I past one of the latter types of milestones - I put in my 71,541st stitch meaning that I now have less than 50,000 stitches to do . It also means that I have less than a complete page (7315 stitches) until I complete the 2nd row of pages.
May I ask a dumb question? How does everyone keep such precise count of their stitches? Maybe it's because I stitch all over the place instead of section by section, but I can never even accurately guess!
I have just gone through this from beginning to end. What beautiful work you have done. And I'm glad to hear you are back dancing again also. I will also ask the question of "how do you keep the count of the stitches. I stitch sort of section by section, but sometimes I guess i move around a bit. I never even thought of counting stitches. I don't know if I would have the courage to start something if I knew I was dealing with 100,000.
Your work is so well done. You should be very proud of your progress so far.

A lot of people guessimate their stitches on a page basis: say 77 stitches wide x 95 stitches high = 7315 stitches, 5 pages then gives 36 575 stitches complete.
Other completely insane people (me! ) use a spreadsheet that I update each day (see thumbnail) where in the top table I'll type the number of stitches I've done in each 10x10 square (eg =3+9+4*10+9 in one square will give me 61 out of 100 stitches complete) and the spreadsheet pretty much does the rest.
It's looking really wonderful! I love how it looks like the painting itself. A few feet away and most people won't be able to tell the difference. I really love projects that capture that look so well.
