Wow, that looks much better than my attempts. Washing up cloths would be an easy way to practice different stitches too.

But if you sat opposite her, you could learn mirror-fashion! ;)

Here's my second attempt at double crochet which I sat and did whilst watching an episode of Desperate Housewives just now...

If anyone has any tips on how to keep the edges a bit straighter, I'd be very grateful! :)

OK, here's a second attempt at the single crochet:

And a third attempt at the double crochet:

I think I've solved the problem of the wobbly edges - i only need to chain 2 at the end of the row, not 3, and that makes it a lot neater. I'll still need a bit of proactice, but I think I'll do a washcloth of each (one single crochet and one double crochet) so i really get the hand of doing it neatly before I move on to other patterns. I'm quite pleased with my tension, though - it seems to be quite even at least - phew!

I've decided to go ahead and try a couple of wash cloths, starting with the single crochet one to get used to keeping my tension even. then I'll try a double crochet one as well. Hopefully, by the time I've done both of those, I'll have the sides a lot straighter and will feel confident enough to learn some new stitches/patterns...

Great work Kell, both on the designs and the crochet :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Great work.
Your edge looks quite fine by now, usually you can't do so much about it, just change the chain you make at each end. Some blocking when your done will also help . Or you can crotchet along the finished edge for one row when you are done ;)

Now I feel ready to perhaps try something new...

OK, now I'm quite proud of myself - I've just whipped up my first attempt at a granny square and it actually looks quite square - LOL! I shall give it another try using different yarn just to practice.

I'm really gettnig into this now! Decided to give a small pattern a try and found a tutorial on how to do a mesh pattern. This is how it turned out:

That's it for this afternoon though - I'll have to wait til lthis evening to try some more, although I really should be stitching my four seasons band sampler...
