Dear Karen, you've got me "lusting" after that afghan!!! It's so beautiful!!!

I've crocheted my fair share of afghans, but now I NEED to stitch one -lol!

How on earth did you choose the theme? and find the designs? and get them to be the right size?

You are amazing ... :)

:applesauce: :applesauce: Fabulous Karen and I love the picture of the actual bird too. Such a lovely wee fellow.

Gosh that afghan is a whopper isn't it. I always used to lay my quilts onthe floor to take a pic of them. :D

Thanks Patti--I chose the theme as I love to take photos of birds and to entice them into our yard. Finding the designs was not the easiest thing to do, but Carole so nicely gifted me with a few booklets to help me out and I just kept searching ebay and 123 stitch for designs. Most of the designs are from the Crossed Wing Collections series. As for size, that's somewhat of a challenge that I love. I know that the stitch area in each square is 100 by 100 and I just looked for designs that were near that size. That can be challenging, but it is very doable with a bit of patience. I also strive to center up each of the designs so if they are a bit smaller than others are, they will at least look okay. I hope all of that makes sense.

Thanks again, for all of the lovely replies :)

You've made perfect sense. Thank you.

I know you'll just love cozy-ing up under that in the cooler months...

Glad that made sense--as for the cooler 'months', I'm afraid it's more like cooler days at a time here--we rarely get more than a week or two of really cool weather here, but still it will be a nice afghan to have just in case, and can always be used as a throw :)

Just revisited your pic of the whole afghan and I love the way you've matched up their poses. You're doing such a wonderful job on this. I think you and Carole may be creating some afghan addicts. Looking at the wonderful work you've both done on them has me itching to try one as well.

Just think of the 20 different bird designs that though Karen will finish each, she won't have to frame any of them and has a lovely coverup for chilly (cool anyway) Florida nights.

Here's the latest addition to the afghan--this makes number 11. It's a Yellow Rumped Warbler(aptly named) and is another frequent visitor to our birdbaths. I don't happen to have a photo of one of them, but the stitched one is quite accurate.

Very very very pretty. I have a yellow rumped Warbler (called butterbutts around here  ) that comes to my peanutbutter feeder. only one. every year. It's really strange. They are a lot of fun to watch.
Looking forward to your next bird. The afghan is going to be gorgeous!

:applesauce: He is a real cutie Karen and as always beautifully stitched. You must have a lot of interesting birds who come to your feeding station.

Beautiful update. :applesauce: :applesauce:
