As for Christmas, were you thinking something like this :-) ? You are very welcome to use either of them!

Edited:
Sudden thought -- I think the bottom one would look better with the tulips and inner circle in red, and the larger circle in green; it would look like a wreath with flowers that way :-)

I really like both, but the green wreath is a wonderful idea. I think I have some Christmas green hardanger cloth... wonder what the wreath would look like on this, using Caron "Holiday" for the larger set of kloster blocks... :thinks: Or do them back to back as an ornament -- a light side and a dark side? What possibilities! :P :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Put "Lustrum" aside for a bit and got started on "Delft" -- all the satin stitch is done, now all it needs is the cutting and filling, a little backstitch and the beads. I'm really pleased with how it's stitched up so far  ; oh and it also looks rather fun on its side (balanced on its point I mean). I may attach one of them to the bag straight, and one rotated, just to show the difference.

Well, Mary Hickmott's book "Easing into Hardanger" is a very good place to start, it has very good instructions and gradually gets you from satin stitch to cutting the fabric to various filling stitches -- you can even buy it with a materials pack with alll you need to make all the projects in the book, I think.

If you just want to see a few beginners' designs, two of the designs from that book are offered as freebies on the Caron website, the first one (no cutting at all) here and the second, with only minor cutting, here. Have a go, it's really relaxing and quick and very decorative!

Finished all the stitching except the blanket stitch on Delft last night   Will do the finishing when we're back on Sunday, or possibly at my stitching group on Monday. This is how it's turned out:

I also made a start on the Caron version, this uses 133 Delphinium (thank you Jarvis :-)!); it's rather subtly variegated so I had to use flash to make the colour changes visible :-)

Off now for our weekend -- first the rather sad occasion of DH's uncle's funeral, then staying with friends and our F&S do. See you all next week!
