This is the first time that I've done anything like this myself and the first time that I've done most of these stitches. They aren't hard once you know how to do them.

Abi will be selling the design on her website at Bee's Needleworks in a few weeks and her instructions are superb. You get the chart, plus diagrams and instructions for each speciality stitch, and alternatives for some stitches. There were a couple of stitches that I found slightly more fiddly but none that I thought were difficult to master.
Plus, it was great fun and very satisfying.

This has been on one side for a while as I've been waiting for beads. I wanted to wait until I was ordering the next monthly Cottage as I didn't want to pay postage on just a couple of tubs of seed beads.

It's all finished now though, beads and all. Part eighteen was the moon, some stars and three moths. The moths needed beads for their bodies, their wings are in Rhodes stitch and the rest is backstitch. The moon is a version of Jessica stitch and I used some silk to do the stars, which are in Star stitch. That was supposed to be a pulled stitch but I wanted it to look a bit fuller so I didn't pull. They look quite shiny in the silk.

Image

Then I just needed to add a few silvery beads in three lots of the flowers. After a bit of fiddling I worked out how to get them to all sit the same way up. Good practise for when I bead Around the World :)

Image

And this is the finished piece. It's not perfect but as it was my first attempt at any of these specialist stitches, I'm rather pleased with it. And I love that owl.

Image

Thanks for looking and for all the encouragement!

I'm hoping to get Tree of Stitches back out now and get some more done on that while I'm on a roll :D

:applesauce: :applesauce: That is beautiful Carole. If this was practice you have certainly learned it all very well. The beads are done wonderfully. Great job.

This is so pretty. It's hard to believe that a lot of those stitches were the first time you tried them!
