Re: 'The Dancing Class' SQ - kimkat_tkl PG 11/12 & 2nd ROW D

Post by kimkat_tkl »

Just had to post the following photo as it shows many milestones:

- Less than 40,000 stitches to go (39,555 to be exact)
- Past 2/3rds the way done (67.5% done)
- Reaching the 4th edge
- The second of 4 edges complete
- The third corner complete
- The first 22 columns complete (only 390 to go!)

However my well planned out finishing date of October 31 (which I was on track for) which had a little leeway with if I ran over with still time to get it framed before I gave it to my teacher at the start of December has now disappeared!! Last week my teacher dropped the bombshell that he will be moving to Canada at the end of September! He has accepted an international post teaching over there and while it is an amazing thing for him selfishly I wish he wasn't going (at the moment I don't know what will happen to the school after September) and now I am just trying my best to finish what has become the best leaving present! :D Will I get it done? Well I'm going to give it my best shot.

I am so sorry to hear that your instructor is moving. Your stitching is so beautiful. It is something he will cherish forever, there is no doubt in my mind about it. I always loved the painting. Your piece is amazing.

Oh dear! I'm sure you can get it done. I'll send my cat to keep the pesky frogs away. That's so sad to lose him, but I agree with Carole, he will treasure your gift no matter when you finish.

Well the work is just fabulous but I am sorry to hear that you will be losing him sooner rather then later. Good Luck with the new deadline.

Re: 'The Dancing Class' SQ - kimkat_tkl PG 13 & 19 DONE!

Post by kimkat_tkl »

On Monday night I finished another two pages on this (finally!)

I had planned on stitching 4 mostly full days on this during my two week holiday from work as well as taking it away on holidays, so had hoped to be most of the way through the second set of pages (the bottom row of pages is only 10 rows high so I'm stitching along with the third row of pages) by the end of my holidays - stupid me forgot that I should never set goals cause that will cause things to go wrong. Things like 4 hours before I finished work on my last day before holidays discovering that instead of CHECKING the work of someone else (who had spent 3 weeks working on this!) I was going to have to redo 2/3rds of it. So instead of leaving at 4:30pm (when I normally leave) it was 8:30pm (still not finished) and me coming in for 4hrs of my first day of holidays, which was at least classed as overtime which is time and a half (A silver lining but still one day of stitching lost!)

Anyways here is a couple of piccies of the finished pages and where the project is at:

:applesauce: :applesauce: That is just gorgeous. So sorry that you had to work some on your first day of your holidays, (at least overtime), but you seem to have made great progress on the days you had for stitching. You are getting so close to completion. It is beautiful.
