I'm so enjoying watching this, you three... I wish I could have joined in myself. If it wasn't for the fact that I've got two big ones on the go and my HAED coming up in 22 days, I think I would have started this myself and stitched like mad every day in an effort to catch up, but I think I'll have to give it a miss. I think I might print off the charts though and save them in my stash, then I can stitch it in the future some time. It's exactly the type of project I like. Still, maybe next year the Circle will do another project I can join in with.

I've been thinking the same. We'll all have to look out for next years design and join in too. It's been great fun watching all three of you working on this and I have to admit to a little bit of  that I didn't join in this year.

I've been transferring all the bits there are so far into my cross stitch program (don't ask -- I just like having a copy I can fiddle with :-)) but there seems to be a mistake in one of the small red-and-white squares; or at least it's not symmetrical/logical. Is it just me? Is this the deliberate mistake? The personal touch?

Here's the IC version:

Image

And here's what I thought it should be (sorry if that sounds terribly arrogant, it's just that I'm a bit obsessive about things being symmetrical -- I changed one stitch in the top right-hand square too :-))

It looks to me that you are right - although most of the designs are not symmetrical in this pattern. But that little piece just seems to be a mistake.

I found that most of them are either symmetrical along one axis (vertical or horizontal), or you can do one quarter and the rotate it by 90 degrees four ties to get the square, so still a logical sort of way of building it up, and as you say this one doesn't seem to have any reason behind the different bit.

Do you mean you are doing the BoInk, too? Great!

Yes, but not yet :-) -- I've found the colours I am likely to use, but I think I'll stitch a trial piece first to see whether they go together. Also, I want to do it on opalescent Jobelan, and the suppliers won't have any until January. And I've got Isobel to finish first!

Looks like an error to me. Just do it as it seems logical to do it! I would! :)

I like symmetry as well. One thing I found annoying about that Urn I did was that it was asymmetrical; I had to keep checking it was the design and not me making mistakes!

It looks like a slight mistake on this one and I think that if you are more comfortable making the change tehn as a stitcher that is your option.

The black //////// are just where I ran out of the thread I was using and it was late at night and a 'logical' place to finish!!! I really wanted to get the bottom 'squirly green bit' done so I could photo it, then you could all see what a mathematical Klutz I really am!!

I've downloaded this section but not stitched it yet. I think I'll see how it looks when done.
As Agi says, not all the elements are symmetrical which is part of the fun of the piece I think.
I understand your need for symmetry though!

I think I agree with you, Mabel, that would really bug me, having that one little bit different from the others.

I really want to stitch this too and I've downloaded and printed all the parts of the chart that are available so far - I'll do the same with the others when they appear. I was trying to restrain myself as I've got plenty on the go at the moment, a couple of poor UFOs to finish, several charts waiting to be done and a dolphin kit for Simon's Mum and my HAED coming up in......13 DAYS!.......so I can't really be starting anything else - but I thought the Carpet Page would be a great simple project to do at work some time next year, with the chart in sections and only a handful of colours, so I shall hang onto it and look at doing it in a few months.

Yes, I'm hoping to do it as an in-between project, because it's divided into all those handy little bits and as you say not too many colours. I'm going to try out a few colour combinations first, though, as I want to make sure I get it absolutely to my liking -- DH is talking about having it as a fire screen, and if I'm going to be looking at it all day, it's going to have to be RIGHT :-)!
