I love your skirts. They look comfortable to wear as well as having lovely fresh designs on the fabrics.
The 2 days spent stitching were well worth it, the moon looks perfect and it will be a reference point for the rest. Very well done, Sally!

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: The moon looks perfect! I can't wait to see your progress!

I love your skirts. Those pretty fabrics will not only help you to stay warm, but their lovely colors (I really like that print especially) will be cheerful on those less than sunny winter days.

I'll be wearing that one very soon as I had out to lunch with Jenny and meet up with my sister and her grandson - ( it is school holidays here.)

DD and I had lunch down at the waterfront this morning and then having lunch with my sister (over from NZ) and DD to celebrate my 82 birthday. A lovely day so far and I expect it will continue that way as my sons call me later in the day. :)

Well now here I am again at the end of my tether with this dratted Christmas Stocking and its confetti. I mean shy on earth are there 4 shades of red thread in an area about 20 stitches wide and 2 rows deep I have no idea - you can only see 2 of those threads. A waste of a lovely day on Monday sitting in the sun getting warmed up again.

Soooooooo I got to thinking - yep that was the funny noise you heard yesterday. (Wed) Anyway as Brookllyn's mum is expecting again and it is a boy this time (due in Nov) I will set aside this Dimensions mess until next year. A better course than my 1st idea - take a pair of scissors cut off the small area stitched and dispose of it.

In its place as a Christmas Stocking for Brooklyn for this year is a design by Shannon Wasilief in WOCS 262. It has large area of 1 colour to help make it faster plus it is more "girly" than the Dimensions one.

Running parallel with it will be a special one for my DD & SIL to have ready when the time is right - it will be stitched on the QT when the family are not around :). It has a reference to Rainbow Bridge. Sadly one of their 8yr old dogs, Basil, already has Cushing Disease and now is rather unwell again and the vet wants to investigate. No decision on that yet, I think they will just let dear Basil spend his quiet days at home. He is a shaking mess any time he has to go to the vets for any minor thing poor old dear. He is a Jack Russell cross with a Labrador or similar dog.

So ------here is what they will look like

Image

I have all the threads sorted for both of them now off to the craft cupboard to sort out fabrics. See you in a weeks time:)

Will be so lovely for them Sally and glad you have worked out a solution re the reds on the stocking.

It is sad when a beloved pet has to go. My friend emailed a few weeks ago to say her dog had gone over the rainbow bridge, 14 years old. A touching verse you are going ot stitch & can imagine how appreciated it will be, they will love it.

Really sorry to hear that poor Basil isn't feeling so good.

If a project does not feel right after many attempts, I think that the right thing to do is to move on.
The Angel stocking is lovely and does not have heaps of confetti to stitch. I remember you liking the pattern as soon as you saw it. :D
The lovely verses and colours of Rainbow bridge would warm anybody's heart.

Good decisions imo, Sally! :D

Thank You all for your positive comments I will start gridding one of the 2 fabrics later this morning in the sunshine. Darned chilly this morning at 10.6 but better than the next 5 days when the early mornings won't be above 6c. Upin the sub tropics we don't expect early mornings below 12 - 14c.

Here are the 2 fabrics I have sorted out from stash. Both are 18ct .
The threads are the numbers charted but I may change the darker browns/fawns to something else. We will see. The 3 fawn shades on the dress DMC 642; 644; and 3790 I will be looking to change out for either creamy shades or shading into soft yellows. Time will tell.

The green one is from Picture This Plus but can't remember the name of it. The pretty one is from Chromatic Alchemy calledCand Cane.
NB you go on Cromatics web site at your own risk, it is seriously addictive.!!!!!!!

I love your new designs and can't wait to see your updates. I am so sorry to hear about Basil. It is so hard when a beloved pet leaves, but there is no doubt that your Rainbow Bridge will help to ease the loss.

The saga continues. I finished the 4 rows of 90 st each row to 'frame' Brooklyn's name only to discover that there is a small 'b' without a dot in the round bit and it is for #4 braid Gold of course. Almost finished frogging it. I am not getting very far at all with these Stockings and starting to wonder should I persevere or not.

Oh my Sally, what a shame but glad frogging going well. Another headache for you to decide whether to carry on or not. Hope no more dilemmas occur.

Oh no, the dreaded :anotherfrog: again. He's getting to be a real nuisance with this stocking.

I am sorry you have had to "reverse stitch" so many stitches.

I think it may be worth putting them aside for now and coming back to them at a later date as they are giving you so much trouble, after all this rewarding hobby of ours is supposed to be for enjoyment.

Or maybe if you really wanted to make something special for Brooklyn you could maybe isolate the Angel, stitch her (maybe even on a dyed fabric) and turn her into a cushion instead?

Oh Sally, it certainly has been "stop and start " a good few times now! That is a lot of stitches to frog  But we know that you persevere. I am sure that the next try will be the good one. :D
